      Hey! Oneirology?????

So I apologize if this has been asked before, I just realized I should have searched first, but im already typing the thread so F it.

I was just wondering if anyone here has studied or is studying oneirology. Considering I haven't gone to college yet, and it's something I would definitely be interested in doing, and is still a possibility for me to do, I would love pursue that if it were a realistic path. So therefore, I would like to hear from someone who has done it, maybe knows someone who's done it, or even just knows how or where to do it.

I don't think it's a very commonly studied area, might be hard to get employed when you're in a field like that, not a lot of options, or maybe it would be super sweet like I would hope it would be.

      So anyone? Know anything?

I hate to burst your bubble but there is no such field taught in any university. The whole lucid dreaming experience is (even though thousands of years old) still in its infancy in the western world. The closest you could come would be to study psychology or consciousness research (major in cognitive studies) and then focus your attention on dream research. However, you will probably never hear of lucid dreaming in any college setting.

I have been wondering the same thing becasue I always wanted to get into some sort of field that deals with sleep and dreams and such (and really I know nothing about how college works or anything) but the way I thought about it was I could major in neuroscience or biochemistry then go to medical school for medical research. I think neuroscience would really help with the under workings of sleep and dreams. . . but please someone correct me if I have no idea what I am talking about.

Look into cognitive psych and slowly begin to focus in on LDing. Lots of psych, neuroscience, biochem, all that good stuff.

There are many psychologists and neuroscientists who study sleep. This is an established field of study. Many universities will have a course on the neurophysiology or psychology of sleep. I'm sure if you wanted to study dreams or even specifically lucid dreams this would be a good place to start.
