Sorry for all the detail. I just want to know what it means.
Backround: I am a teenaged guy that is not into mysticism/spiritualism, but because of the influence of my family members' interests in such subjects I ended up with the idea that dreams might have meaning, and this one has been bugging me.

If I recall correctly (might be a little off), the dream started with me on a boat.

(Actually, I was just seeing the water from a perspective in the air THINKING that I was on a boat. In my dreams, my observations and thoughts sometimes do not go with what is happening.)

So in the water, I see a fish the size of a whale that was nearly identical to the fish in the video icon at the top of this list: http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...rch_type=&aq=f.

Then I go from being in the air as a non-physical being to being a hand in the water that is playing with and twisting the fishes flexible tail, and the fish doesn't seem to notice much.

Next thing I know, I am walking underwater behind a bunch of refugees from something and we all have snorkels on. The water feels dry and warm. I somehow have the knowledge that I am the leader of the refugees.

We can look out from the water and somehow see an island from a perspective like that of which we would have if we were above the water.

Around us, the sky is a late afternoon tone and the island seems to be full of the darkness of night (these two tones seem to go along with this feeling of conclusion I had, like it was the end of a story), and above the island the sky is as bright as mid day. The island is impossibly thick with trees, except for a primitive wooden shade structure thing. In the structure I can see some campfires, and a drink bar (no joke) behind it. Despite the drink bar, I had the feeling that it was a primitive civilization without technology.

Then it jumps from that to being on the island. Being in the structure (which from afar looked to be about 30x15 feet), there were impossible amounts of space as I went a long inside it. I can remember rooms and hallways, and conversing with the modernly dressed hawaiian-looking islanders. Even though it didn't make sense that we could understand them, in the dream it all felt normal. They greeted us like expected guests (mutual feeling, we felt like we knew them too), and treated me with respect and as a person of high authority. Everything was modern and normal once we went farther in the structure, technology nearly identical to ours but none of the same objects that one would see in America. Like being in far away country that is somehow parallel with america.
However, I had this hard to describe sad feeling that I didn't want to be there (despite the respect), and I wanted things to be the way they were before. A feeling similar to homesickness, and I felt like I didn't belong there.

The dream either changes there, or I got used to living on the island that is a constant state of night (not in the scary or eerie sense, night while being in a well lit, warm, home). If the dream continuing, the feeling is gone and I just go about with a feeling of surreality instead.
