What does the bible say about dreams?

This just crossed my mind. I'm not religious or a christian and I know hardly anything about the bible so if anyone can tell me something about this please do so.

well, according to the Bible, certain characters, especially prophets, were visited by angels and received visions from God.

you might find these links interesting. i've quoted the first little bit of each one below...

In the Bible there are constant references to communication between man and God, between man and the angels, and between man and his higher self through the medium of dreams. The moral standards of the individual are exactly reflected in the clarity and degree of quality of his or her dreams.

Joseph, the eleventh son of Jacob (favourite) had the ability not only to remember and interpret his own dreams, but to interpret those of others. In his first two dreams...

-Did you know that 1/3rd of the Bible relates to visions or dreams? Important people who dreamed were Abraham, Joseph, Daniel, Ezekiel, Joseph (Jesus') father, Mary (Jesus') Mother, Paul, Cornelius and others.

-God has always talked to His children in dreams. Our culture...

Dreams and Visions in the Bible

If you have a Bible, you can look up Genesis 37:5; Joel 2:28; Matthew 2:13; Matthew 27:19; Jude 8; Daniel 2:1. And for visions look up: Acts 11:5; Acts 26:19; Joel 2:28.
Christians are devided in their beliefs about dreams and visions in this day and age. This is because there are two verses that appear to conflict. They are: Hebrews 1:1, 2: "God, who long ago spobe on many occassions and in many ways [including dreams] to our forefathers by means of the prophets, has at the end of these days spoken to us by the means of a Son [Jesus Christ]." The other Joel 2:28, 29: "And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days."
In order to not be confused by this you must understand what the original writer intended this to mean. If you look at both these verses todgether without understanding you will think these conflict. But in fact they don't! This is because Hebrews speaks of the end of the New Testament when the Holy Spirit of Jesus shall speak and guide His people and Joel speaks of the days (a day to the Lord is like a thousand years to us humans) before Jesus returns, before and during the tribulation.
The Bible also states in several passages to be careful of false prophets who will speak of dreams and visions that will deceive people from the truth. Sometimes the devil can come as an angel of light just as in the time of Adam and Eve when the devil came as a snake and twisted the truth. So it is important to test dreams and visions against the scripture to be certain of its source.
Also remember, that most of the time people have "ordinary" dreams which have no spiritual significance but simply the mind sorting out memories during the REM cycle of your sleep pattern. The Bible also speaks of this type of dreaming.
Be wairy of who you share your dreams/visions with for interpretation as what people say is not law. Their interpretation of your dream or vision may not be right and what they say may not be right. According to the Bible, when the dreamer hears the true interpretation, they will know it in their heart, their heart will leap.

That is what the Bible says.
I believe personally that we are living in the last days that Joel and many others in the Bible speak of. Already 80% of the prophesies mentioned in the Bible have come to pass.
I have had dreams and visions that I believe without doubt are from God even though people of other religions may disagree because the dreams and visions I have had confirm what the Bible says about heaven, and Jesus.
I believe God is the same yesterday, today and forever, what He did in the Bible He can do today.
I had come to a cross road in my life and did not know what to do. My dad had recently died and my mom was grieving. I was offered the opportunity to go and study abroad for a year and my mom was afraid to loose me to. I didn't know what to do, so I prayed to God and asked Him and immediately He showed me a vision-I was on a narrow dust path, on either side was thorns and sinking sand and the sky was dark and stormy but then I saw infront of me was Jesus, and in His hands were two big bags-my burdens. He was leading the way and I knew that no matter what, He would be with me. Not only that, but I was overwhelmed because here was the King of Kings carrying my burdens like a servant...it was so humbling I cried and I am still overwhelmed today when I think of it. Now, could this be a depiction from the devil? No. Of that I am sure, because if you read the New Testament you will find Jesus said "I will never leave you nor forsake you" it also says "cast your burdens upon the Lord for He careth for you" it also testifies the humbleness of the Lord Jesus when He washed His deciples feet. Is this twisting the scripture as the devil would do? No, look it up and you will see. Is this something I could humanly try and imagine, thats up to you to decide but I know myself that that is not something I would just suddenly come up with and in that way.

I deleted all off topic posts...

This is an old thread, and by the quality, I would have left it. It could be helpful to some people, so I'll leave it open.
      Bollocks.

      Book of Job 33 : 14- 16

"For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man percieveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of night, when deep sleep falleth upon man, in slumberings upon the bed; Then He openeth the ears of men and sealeth their instruction."
