      Bed time

      Hey guys,

What time do you generally go to bed at? I have been seriously depriving myself of quality sleep/dream time the past few weeks and I miss being lucid/having crazy awesome dreams. I still dream, and they're just as strange as always, but I feel like I might have higher chances of reaching lucidity if I start sleeping a bit earlier. Another question is, if I take a sleeping pill before bed does this increase chances of lucidity or worsen?

I guess only seniors have chance to go in bed at 9pm and wake up at 8 am all the time. That's why I guess people here are so quiet about your question.

      hi rockit,

My guess is that sleeping pills would suppress (worsen) your chances since it's probably going to keep you in a more sedated state of being throughout the night - whereas in order to become lucid, you must have some level of awareness or alertness.

As far as times to go to sleep, it's different according to everyone's own active schedule. If you work a night shift, you would likely sleep during the day, and vice versa. So, as long as you get 8+ hours it doesn't matter WHEN you do it, just do it when you can sleep uninterrupted.

I usually go to bed whenever I please. But I try to set a time frame when to go to bed, which would be like 10pm - 1am.

I can't get to sleep at what you would call in normal time in my house because I live with 4 other people who all stay up to at least 12am most nights, sometimes later so although it varies I would usually get to sleep between 2-4 . Also as with regards to dreaming and how much sleep you get affecting them, I have found that my longest and craziest dreams have come when I have had only a few hours sleep.

I've always had bad sleep habits. I go to sleep whenever I'm tired and because I have no job or school etc, I have no problem with it. I tend to go to sleep anywhere from 3-6AM and wake up anywhere from noon-3PM.
When I have my kids, my schedule is even more chaotic because I have never been able to function well during the daytime hours. Because I have to get them up for school and such, I tend to sleep every 2-3 days and then crash for 12-16 hours.

I've never been able to consistantly lucid dream. But my dreams have ALWAYS been more real to me than real life because they are that vivid and complex.

Maybe you should try reading before you go to sleep, rockit2themoon.

I'm in the bed around 3AM-4AM, and I tend to have a series of dreams everynight. Usually before going to sleep, I'll read a chapter or two out of a book that I find interesting. After about 30 minutes, I can't keep my eyes open. Minutes later I'm sleeping well and usually dreaming. For the most part, if I'm not tired, I won't force sleep and therefore I sleep rather well.

I always go to bed between midnight - 2am and sleep til 6.
I usually remember 2 dreams per night, but when I sleep 2 hours more or even go to bed at 10pm, my dreams are much more vivid and I can remember up to 5 dreams a night.

In general its good to sleep 8 hours if you want to dream lucid. You double your chances of a LD if you sleep 8 instead of 6 hours.
