      Recrusive Dreaming?

So last night I had a dream that I woke up and remembered my dream. And for some reason I was Barny Stinson from How I Met Your Mother, but that's not the point.

So I'm wondering, just out of curiosity, how common do you guys think it is to have a dream that is redundant or recursive, like dreaming about dreaming about dreaming? Or something similar to mine?

I had a dream once where I went to sleep and saw a dream and in that dream I saw a dream etc.
Except that in every dream I went back in time in the same continuity and it all came together as a complete mindfuck of a story.
I don't think it counts as redundant, though. Oh well.

Too bad I don't remember what the story was about, something to do with school again.

Actually that's kind of exactly what I'm talking about. I figured I'm not the only one it's happened to, but I was wondering just how common/rare it might be.

I know I get stuck in FA loops every once in a while. It was just a dream, but I'm still dreaming. It was just a dream, but I'm still dreaming. It was just a dream... you get the picture.

I've also been stuck watching a fast-forward version of myself sleeping.

Or I zoom straight out of the story to find I've been watching TV/reading a book.

I don't think I dream about dreaming, though. As soon as my brain latches onto the idea of dreaming, rather than being part of a story, I'm usually snapped into lucidity.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.
