Digitally Recording Your Dreams!

I had this idea one time in the shower.. yeah I tend to think a lot while showering for some reason anyway the idea is:

come up with a device that can digitally record your dream both audio and visual and the dreamer (you) will be able
to replay the dream on your computer for example. the entire dream will be played back to you so no need to remember
because the 'dream recording device' will have already done the job for you!

i guess this is something way before its time but with science anything is possible.

what it comes down to is creating a device which can record the unconscious which by the way is composed of nothing while
at the same time is full of information. so is it possible to record information that does not exist? i read an article in wired i
believe about a man who was paralyzed from the neck down .. anyway to make a long story short a neuroscientist connects
the guys brain to a computer and the guy is able to move the mouse pointer on the computer screen merely by thinking it!!

now thats consciousness read by the machine.. but unconciousness is a vast pool of unknown knowledge which is much harder
to be understood by humans let alone machines.

......

i did have another idea pertaining to this idea.. it has to do with a Virtual Reality Simulation of one's lucid dreams then again
i'm going to keep this one to myself maybe i'll market this idea and make millions haha yeah right!

There is something like that called the Nova Dreamer though it doesn't neccissarily do the exact same thing.

I dont think we will ever be able to "record" our dreams the way we want to. It's just not possible.

Are we dreaming?

But isn't that one thing that dreaming is for?

If that info. doesn't exist, how do you know it? It's all these little things called neurons connecting to eachother and firing each other off. I suppose it would be possible to record ones dreams that way, but you would have to have some kind of super-high detailed mri thing that is really really fast, and the decoding program would have to re-adjust itself for each person.

For that thing where they stuck the little electrodes in his head, the neurons in that guys head randomly fired off at first and didn't know the controller was there. Eventually they reorganized so that he could cousciously move them on his own.

Some scientists took a bunch of rat neurons, put it on a joystick, and they learned to play MS Flight sim:

The day they learn to record dreams will also be the day they create a mind reading machine. Think of it, all your deepest, darkest fantazies played out on a computer monitor.....

They might be able to record audio-visual, but so much of dreams (at least for me) are tactile/sensual and emotional rather than just image-based. THAT would be extremely difficult to record unless you had some kind of suit or helmet that directly linked you to the brain (Remember the movie Strange Days?) Minority Report (w/Tom Cruise) did a good job of portraying what it might possibly be like to replay audio-visual thoughts...

Good point evangel, the playback mechanism would almost have to be another human brain. I've read sci-fi books on that theme.

Playback presents even more difficulties since you would need a way to induce changes in various levels of chemicals in the neurotransmitters between the neurons in the brain. Almost certainly impossible anytime soon.

Anyone remember the movie "Brainstorm" with Christopher Walken, Natalie Wood, and Cliff Robertson? That's pretty much what we're talking about here.

Next step.

[b]LD Rental - Rent 2 Movies and a Game and Save $20

Somehow I also thought of that. Once I was talking to someone that the last frontier of computer games will be the inside our heads realm".

Also, TV movies .

There\'s no way to go other than 3D. The best 3D device man can make will never be as perfect as the feeling we have while we are LDing.

So, my point is: Computer games, movies etc... will be projected inside our brains any time soon. I think it is more easy to put someting there than to extract it.

In a manner of speaking, we will be renting LDs to watch and play
.

Hi Seeker!

Can you share your books titles with us? I'd love to read such books.
