haha well i guess lucid dreaming is sort of my escape..
I haven't told anyone at school
I'm just normal at my school, but everyone else is close minded about everything and would never even think about lucid dreaming
and my social life is just average I guess
I think it's awesome.
I've talked to most of my friends about it and they always seem very fascinated and want to know as much as possible about lucid dreaming. A lot of my friends now come to me and talk to me about dreams they've been having, or ask me sleep advice, etc.
I think being interested in lucid dreams and have them make us way rad and cool. Besides, who wants to be normal? I'd take weird any day.
Everyone likes me at school, but there are always going to be the nastier people in my grade...
I've told a few select people about my lucid dreaming, obviously the ones that won't judge me based on my interests.
My social life is pretty good, I enjoy talking to people; I can't be around a bunch of people for too long though. I get a bit exhausted from that; I suppose that's part of being an introvert. :P
I would say hell yeah we're weird, it blows my mind that "normal" people tend to have no interest or appreciation whatsoever in their dreams!
My friends are fascinated with it. They don't believe me when I tell them I remember 2-4 dreams a night, they're always wanting how they can increase dream recall and start lucid dreaming.
We all are very regular people. Society makes us think that doing something unusual = little to no social life. But everyone here is normal. Would I talk to friends about it? No, although I admire those of you who do. Hell, even my parents dunno im keepin a DJ :D. And they wont until I attain a certain level of proness.
i was rather popular when i was in high school. people thought i was really cool and interesting because i was always talking about psychedelics, lucid dreaming, meditation and other mind opening topics. lets just say i blew a lot of minds and turned many people on to lucid dreaming.
I guess I was pretty popular in school, in my huge class of 12 people :P But yeah, I go out a lot with my friends still, and talk to people whenever I can. I don't consider myself weird, and whenever the Conversation steers towards the direction of Lucid dreaming, then yeah, I tell them about it. If they think I'm weird for LD'ing then they can go to you know where.
once the average person learns about lucid dreaming, they ALWAYS want to know more
we have discovered an entire part of the universe that most people overlook for what it truly can be..this isnt controlled by any social or even physical barriers
yeah i told my friends, i even had paper about lucid dreaming @ school omg :D that was one of most awesome things iv ever done, everyone was asking me question about lucid dreaming for a month some people even tryed it :d
First of all, ask yourself if it really matters if you're socially weird or not. Then ask yourself if something the human body could before you were even born should even be considered weird in the first place.
This forum is one of the only places I can talk about lucid dreaming and people are interested and reply back..
I tell my friends sometimes. Like once or twice I'd arrive at school and tell them I had a lucid dream and I would be totally excited but they are always quite uninterested. They're more into feminism and getting good grades and whatever. I can understand I spose why they think its stupid I get so hyped about my dreams (to them it'd just be images and stories they see when they sleep but forget in the morning), but I don't think they've ever experienced a lucid, so.
I reckon I am wierd! - considering my personality and interests and stuff - compared to those people I talk to! Lucid dreaming may be wierd to some (old people perhaps) but its awesome. Just because something is unpopular, does not nesecarily make it wierd. It may seem wierd cause the mainstream rejects it but its incredible to those who really love it you know. Like with all this music I listen to, I think its incredible and I see the good in it but other people think its wierd and don't understand it.
I love who we are. Lucid dreaming is so much fun.
I've always been an introvert, but I have a small and close group of friends who I talk to often. I don't care that I don't go out after school much - I'm comfortable being introvert, I do talk to friends though which I think is an important thing - to have regular contact with friends and to feel important to someone... yeah... me and my friends have little of the same interests in common. Like one friend and I recently decieded we were kindred spirits cause we always laughed at the same things, no matter how small they were we both laughed at them without any warning from the other. And that friend and I have like almost no common interests - we just enjoy eachothers company.
Why do you ask? Can you answer these questions yourself for us to know your own thoughts? I'm guessing the people at your school are rejecting the idea of lucid dreaming ?
First of all....You will find that once you leave the halls of "High School" ..all that popularity crap goes out the door. No longer will people be looking at you and making remarks about your clothing or whether you are popular or not. That all vanishes...and then you can relax and really be yourself, instead of the "yourself" that you create to make other people think something about you...that might not even be true. It's so much better after high school!
As far as being normal....I would say that maybe half of the people I have attempted to discuss this with, simply dismiss it and don't want to talk about it. It's probably equivalent to telling them that you saw a UFO. They think...sure...they believe it's true, but I know it's horseshit...so they dismiss you.
I had never lucid dreamed until the week that I discovered God. I was an atheist my entire life, and I'll turn 50 in December. Recently I was watching a show on TV where the host was talking about God. So while driving home from work....I decided to ask that question...you know...."Do you exist?".
Well I asked it....and in the process asked "IF you exist...give me a sign.....and if you really want to prove you exist.....help me with this malady I've had since childhood. Help me with this medical issue....God...please help me."
Well I've had that "issue" since childhood.....but the next day....it was gone. Totally...absolutely GONE.
Then the dreams started.....where I was aware and interacting with others. I could ask questions and get answers.....
After reading up on the subject....I found that allegedly we should be able to manipulate our dreams, and do whatever we wish...and possibly locate other people in our dreams. I just tried this last night....and it worked. I found my wife in my dream....and decided to hold a blue fish in my hand. I asked her to look at what was in my hand...and remember it for later. When she woke up....the first thing out of her mouth was that she dreamed that I had a fish in my hand.
So ...you tell me....is that weird? OR.....is that the coolest f'ing thing ever....that makes you look beyond your daily lives and wonder.
I've been wondering a LOT lately...and it feels damn good!
I've always been considered a bit weird, but I have enough close friends who I can talk with about this kind of stuff; I guess lucid dreaming is really 'me' though. It probably wasn't a shock to my friends that I had found something unusual like it again.
I'm an average in my current secondary school; not too popular not too nerdy/introvert. I don't really dare to be too sociable because I'm really self-conscious and I hate too much. In fact when I leave for my next school I'm gonna stop hating and start loving <3
However I kinda find it depressing when people gossip about stuff I know nothing about. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I feel so out of place when everyone talks about stuff I don't know. And when I casually butt in "Hey, what are you guys talking about?", they go "Oh sorry, we can't tell you."
@&*%!@#&*$&(%#&!
Besides I don't have any close friends from my current school.
As for lucid dreaming, I share them with my friends but yeah, they don't take note of the fascination and amazement of being able to control your dreams.
"HEY HEY HEY. Do you know what lucid dreaming is? 8) 8) 8)"
"Uh no."
"It's when you're aware and conscious of yourself dreaming! And you can even control your dreams. AIN'T THAT SUPER AWESOMEXZXZX"
"..Uh yeah. Interesting."
hmm, no i wouldnt say that we are weird. My friend told me of a dream he had that was VERY similer to another friends dream, so i got intreasted at the thoght of the possiblity to share a dream. So being the person i am i looked it up and studied it. then i came across the term lucid dreaming and after finding out what it was, my mouth literaly dropped to the floor. So after a few days i got an accont on this site and filled my friend in on some of the things i learned, he wanted me to tell them more, but i keep forgeting :( maybe ill goover it agian at the bus stop tomarow morning... So i only told him and my cuzen. lol, my cuzen said shes gunna be lazy and ill have to find her once i get good at lucid dreaming and come get her to tell her shes dreaming
My friend "Jake" was interested in lucid dreaming for like 2 days, didn't have one, and gave up. Now when ever I mention it he says "really, Austin?" Like it's lame. He just didn't have one yet and so far I know NOBODY who has tried lucid dreaming at my school. But I don't think I'm weird, I'm just not very social. What kind of 14 year old kid is going to be interested in lucid dreaming? Me, I tell ya', ME, and anybody who thinks lucid dreaming is gay are gay.
I believe lucid dreaming is a gift....not a right. Not everyone can do it...and not everyone appreciates the wonder of it. Perhaps the same reason that your friend acts like it's "lame" ... is the reason why he cannot do it. Perhaps he's not a positive person, and that is what's stopping him. Food for thought.
Im sorry, I did;t read some posts here, I am in a hurry but I would jsut like to point out the following. What the HELL is weird normal?
Discuss.
As for me, I am perfectly normal, but that is according to my own standards and rules. I don't give a damn what most people think. Let them hate. I dont care. As long as I have some good friends around me I don't care what everyone in high school thinks. It's meaningless, as someone said.
I'm probably older than you....I'm almost 50. Not trying to sound like an old sage here....but one thing that I've learned in my 49 years...is that the people who claim that they don't care what others think about them.....um....they care more than anyone. They demonstrate this by the fact that they wear clothes that DEMAND that you notice and react to them. This is one of many things that they do..that I call the "uniform". You've seen them...the kids who so desperately want to be different....and all end up looking the same. It's just a funny thing to me to hear people claim that they don't care what others think, as they wear tattoos and clothes that scream out...PLEASE NOTICE ME!!!!!
Sometimes I crack myself up.
this is not always true.. people who don't care what others think most of the time don't care what others think. its very simple. i do it every day.
Nothing about human beings is "always true"....but I try to search for commonalities. I'm 99% sure that anyone reading this message sees people in their daily lives who are so desperate for attention that they would do ANYTHING....including wearing bizarre clothing, getting piercings, or even having fake friends on their cell phones, to convince people that they have people who give a crap about them. This is so normal. It's always been this way, and it always will.
The truth is, (in my not so humble opinion) that if you or anyone else REALLY did not care what others think, you would spend zero effort worrying about your clothing, and just wear jeans and a t shirt every day because it's so simple. I think if you find yourself looking at the labels when you buy your jeans, then you most certainly DO care what others think about you. If you didn't, you'd go to the Salvation Army and buy some jeans for two bucks that say "toughskins" on them...and be perfectly happy. I'm saying this in the most "fun" way.....not being judgmental. I just think it's human nature to care what other people think about you. If you didn't.....you would be VERY unique, and probably very unhappy.
your second paragraph just depicted me. though, i do care what some people think.. such as my parents and friends and other family. i think it's important to take what they think sometimes because 1 it would be rude to tell them i dont care, and 2 it would bother me if my friends or family thought wrong of me. but for other people i don't know... i could give two shits less about what they say or think. period.
