I've been lucid dreaming for a while now, I even involuntarily lucid dreamed a lot when I was a kid, but I've never had any real problems with it until the other night.

While trying to go to sleep, I began counting my breaths and clearing my thoughts, something I do often to try and become lucid. A few times I began to dream and felt semi-lucid. But what was strange was that the first two times this happened, when I moved it felt like I was being held back by something. Almost like my body was in sand. I could move, but it was very sluggish, all while dreaming. Also, during the dreams, my surroundings were very dark in each setting. And each dream only lasted for a small while, maybe around 20 seconds. Each time I would attempt to open my eyes, which somehow became slammed shut in the dream and would have to work really hard untilI finally opened my eyes and found myself in bed.

This happened to me again for the third time of the night, but strangely it lasted a bit longer and I had a bit more freedom of movement. Another strange thing about it was that it took place in my home.

I was laying down after the other dreams and suddenly I began to hear voices coming from the living room. (This is where the dream started, I remember.) Wanting to find out what was going on, I stood up and walked towards my bedroom door. This time around, moving up to this point was normal. Until I opened the door. Once I did this, the voices suddenly became some kind of loud alarm in the almost pitch black of the living room. I rushed to where I thought the source was and found a cellphone sitting on a chair. At this point my movements once again became very sluggish, particularly those of my arms and my eyes began to close again. Also, I was pretty much in a state of panic. I then ran to the kitchen (small apartment) and attempted to turn on the lights, but after a few tries, I realized it wouldn't work. I also realized that this whole time I have only been slightly in control. I couldn't even will the lights on.

I was pretty scared at this point. I rushed back to my bedroom, somehow losing the phone on the way, which got rid of the sound of the alarm, I think. I went to my girlfriend who was laying in bed. This is when I realized my eyes were completely shut and wouldn't open for anything. I started trying to talk to my girlfriend and tell her what was going on but she wasn't very responsive, seeing as she was asleep. I gave up trying to talk to her and focused on just trying to force my eyes open. I knew if I did that I would wake up. After a considerable struggle, my eyes opened and with a flash, I was laying in bed. Needless to say, this was quite an alarming experience.

I'm not sure what to say about it, and what was wondering if anyone here could help me understand what happened. It's really confusing because nothing like this has ever happened to me. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance. :]
