Been lucid dreaming for the past 39 years....

      Hi everyone,

I am 39 years old now and i have probably had over a 100 lucid dreams but none intentional.

Tonight i thought i would check out a couple of strange experiences i have had all my life.....

I have lucid dreams quite regular and a few times each year i experience waking up randomly or gazing to a clock or anything with digits and always see double numbers...11.11 02.02..etc

These lucid dreams started out as terrifying nighmares......when i started dreaming i immediately tried to wake up and had this feeling like my ribs were being squeezed and used to scream but now i let myself melt into them.

I am not superstitious or anything and am fairly religious but have always wondered why i have these experiences.

I have put it down to watching horror movies very young and growing up in a very cold dark poor enviroment in the early 70s.

      Weird Eh?

Sleep paralysis explains everything. Even the times on the clock (if it's not just a coincidence). SP causes hallucinations and people have seen much stranger things that double digits on a clock.

But yes, sleep paralysis is quite common, especially for lucid dreamers. It's important to be able to induce SP if you want to try WILD.

Hello, i can pretty much control my dreams now ...flying, sex, imagining things but there is always a bit of fear there at the beginning.....i am used to it but find it very weird but i see i am not alone now.

My dreams always start off as nightmares and the only way to wake myself up is to think of having sex or being in love with someone.......then i wake up

Hello, jpop. Welcome to Dream Views. Always nice to have another natural around.

cmind is correct. Sleep Paralysis would be the reason you wake up with the feeling of weight on/about your chest. It is something that we go through every night (a defense mechanism which keeps the body from acting out our dreams, while we sleep), but 'dreamers' tend to experience it more often, because we are most likely to wake up during an REM period, when our bodies are still trying to sleep.

Phasing in and out of consciousness during these times does often produce hallucinations. It's basically walking that line, between wakefulness and sleep. You can do a bit of research into hypnagogia and hypnopompia for some more information. But you definitely have the right about, about melting into it, and just relaxing, during those times. Well done!
