Death, Death, and... More Death?

At times, (the most prominent one most recently) I go through bouts of nightmares, or, since I'm never in terror, perhaps I should just call them very 'disturbing dreams'. And actually, I find these far, far worse. The most recent phase lasted about two weeks. Each night, I dreamt of death. The first time, I personally killed someone (who I would have no intention or even want to kill in real life) at gun point. Another dream I saw a close friend's dead body after she was murdered. Another time someone killed themself. Each dream is entirely different, except for one factor; someone dies, or is dead. I wrote each dream down, though I found it very hard. They had affected me far more than usual. Anybody have any comments? The dreams 'slowed' eventually, but it's a regular occurence for me to have them. Just the other night I dreamed about a sailor who'd been washed ashore with a mortal wound in his left chest, just below his heart. He was still alive, but dying. I held his hand, but then I woke up. I haven't been able to Lucid dream to my knowledge. Not yet anyhow, I've been trying with no luck so far

I have the same dreems, all the time. Most of the time I was the one that got killed (by being stabbed or shot). I also kill people that I would never in real life. That is the reason I'm trying to be able to be lucid so I can stop these dreams.

Hm, are they the really vivid type? Do you almost feel the pain as though it were real? Odd though, as I've never dreamt in my whole life of my own death. Only others.

Yes unfortunatly I feel all the pain . but I've learned to deal with it.

Well in my dreams when I get shot I usally die pretty quickly, and with that if you do get shot in real life at first you feel no pain because you are in shock and dont know whats happened, then after a few seconds you start to feel it bad, and after this starts in my dream it usally last for a few seconds and then I die. So there is a lot of pain but not for long.

When you say you "die" in your dream does that mean you wake up, or you leave your body, or change dream settings, or what?

Most of the time I wake up when I die, but there have been a few times when I leave my body then float upward a little bit wile watching my dead self on the ground, then I would change dreams.

It might help to try to be unafraid of such a dream before you go to sleep. I've noticed that when you fear nightmares before you go to sleep, you tend to have them that night. It's easier to say than do of course. One way I found is to understand that none of it is real or can hurt you.

well....do you watch things or movies with alot of violence? maybe that is why?

no I don't, maybe occasionly. The last violent movie I saw was 2 weeks ago, I watch cops a lot maybe thats why.

Hi, sorry this is so late. Violent films... I don't watch many of them, actually. In fact, the most violent things I watch are usually animé. I sometimes wonder about dreaming, you know, whether its real. When you start to dream about the future, and about people who've passed on, it kind of messes up your perceptions. *ponders*

Can't say that I have ever died in a dream. If something happens that makes me think that I should have been killed I "play dead" for a second by not moving. After that I just continue on with the dream.
