Hey everyone, name's Grifter, I found this page while on a quest to learn about Lucid Dreaming... I have been fascinated with the prospect of controlling my dreams for a while now, but still cannot grasp the basic concept of doing it. In fact, when I DO realize I am dreaming sometimes, doubt usually messes it up.
It happened a couple weeks ago, I had gone to take a nap in the afternoon, and while I was sleeping, I found it rather odd that I was sitting in my living room when I remembered going to lay down. I didn't really think much of it, but somehow, probably from sleeping hard on my arms, my shoulders began to go numb in my dream, and that's when I was determined it was in fact a dream. I stood up and wanted to test my theory, I imagined that if I would break through my glass sliding door to the balcony of my apartment that I would appear in a world that I loved and always dreamed of going to someday. But as I charged at the door, for one split second of doubt, I hit the door and bounced back, landing on my butt and suddenly jolting awake in my bed.
I would like to know how I can control this? Anything specific I should try? Any special techniques? Please let me know. Lucid dreaming has become slightly more previlant since I learned about it, with slight bits of awareness in a dream, but nothing so powerful as that story I told you. Did that dream somehow jolt my subconscious to the possibility? I am sorry I'm asking so many questions, but I hope they are valid and have a good point. Please let me know!
