Thread: I have an idea to help with dream journaling

One of the most frustrating things I've found about writing down my dreams is that the next morning when I try to read what I wrote.. there's always some of it that's illegible!

When I wake up from a dream, I keep my eyes closed which helps with my recall but that means that I am writing down my dreams with my eyes closed.. this results in my writing at a slant, off the page or writing lines stacked on top of each other.

I've tried marking my place with my left thumb on the side of the page while writing with my right hand but that still leaves much to be desired when an idea came to me.

What about notebook paper whose lines are RAISED! I did an internet search as I wasn't sure such a thing existed and I found that it does! There is writing paper with slightly raised lines that provides tactile as well as visual feedback for people who have difficulty (for whatever reason) staying between the lines.

I found a couple of websites that carry this type of paper but I'm going to see if I can find it cheaper locally.

Has anyone else tried using raised paper or know of a store that carries it?

I've never heard of it before, but that's bad ass.

If I ever find any that's reasonably priced I'll buy some too.

why don't you close your eyes, do some recalling, and THEN open your eyes and write?

I've tried that but my memory is really crappy so it's better for me to write all that I can with my eyes closed first (plus it's dark and I don't want to disturb my husband by turning on the light).

I also tried one of those light pens but it seems that any type of light scares my dream recall away.

I do re-read my journal when I get up for the day and rewrite it filling in any blanks but that would be easier to do if it was all legible.

my problem is this: i wake in the middle of the night from a dream. I write it down immediately.
i go back to sleep. I wake the next morning...read what i've written.
1) i don't remember writing it, or at least, not for a while.
2) sometimes it's illegible!!

Why dont you just use a taperecorder?

I don't use a tape recorder because I share a bed with my husband who can be a light sleeper and I don't want to disturb him.

That's a great idea! Paperdoll - Opening your eyes really tends to "erase" your dream recall much quicker than with your eyes closed. Also, by keeping your eyes closed you can still be in a somnolent state that you'll be in when sleeping, so it'll be easier to keep those dream memories and all. That's a very good idea. I'd probably try that, but I hate writing on paper with pencil or pen. If anything, I'd just use the computer. One could probably do the same thing with a computer, turn the brightness down and make everything blackness. I'll see if I can add this to my Dream Recall tutorial! (when you provide a link... I'll tell em you thought of it )

I have always used a tape recorder and can in the dark instantly record any thought or feeling had. It is a very good small digital recorder that picks up a whisper across the room. It uploads to my computer and tracks dates and time .It is the easiest devise I’ve ever used it’s so automatic. I'm just wandering though, could it be promoting some kind of laziness. It just seems too easy.

A tape recorder is a wonderful device and I use one, then later write it down in my journal with a more descriptive...description.... Is that a double negative?

But about this raised paper......did we ever think about the blind here?

I wonder if you printed the lines using your deskjet printer if you could feel them?
