      Lucid dreaming persuasive essay paper

im doing a persuasive research paper and want to do it on lucid dreaming or astral projection.
I am drawing a blank though as too what I can actually try to persuade in this paper dealing with lucid dreaming. I was thinking about it dealing with the subconcious.. but not completely sure

anyone else have any ideas on what i can do?

Lucid dreaming has been scientifically proven. You will have a much easier time defending your topic if you chose that.

You also have a huge number of resources at your disposal. You could structure it like so:

      1. History of Lucid Dreaming
      1.1 Monks and Shamans
1.2 Early 20th Century (with early experimenters)
      2. Scientific research and proof
      2.1 LaBerge
      2.2 Dreamviews research
      3. Accounts and experiences
      4. The future of lucid dreaming

How long does this paper need to be? I could easily see it being 50 pages long if you desired. There IS that much info available.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

it has to be 8-11 pages.
      thanks for the layout.

But like i said it has to be a persuasive paper.. so if i do that.. what am I actually persuading the reader to do/think?

      thanks

Anything but a 'research' paper. You see, in the scholarly world the idea of research, on the primary level, indicates quantitative studies. Well quantitative studies entirely miss the point of distinctions of meaning and qualities -- values -- which alone give texture and significance to dreams. so that kind of primary research would be rather dry work. Then there is secondary research, where one is supposed to cite studies of primary research, and we have already discussed how dry that is. It does not improve at second hand.

But you could do a secondary research paper discussing the similarities and differences between Out of Body Experiences and Lucid Dreaming. There, the fight ever rages on as some maintain that they are exactly the same phenomena, that is dreams, though the Out of Body People are 'dreaming' that they are out of body. Again, if I may interject my own opinion, such people who fail to find a distinction between Lucid Dreaming and Out of Body Experience are exactly those quantitative researchers who only know how to count but cannot find any scientific way to justify making distinctions between kind. If they cannot decide how to quantitatively express the difference between Black and White then they are left with the position of maintaining that there is no difference between Black and White. And so we are told that since they know so little about Lucid Dreaming and Out of Body Experience, then it is there position they are the same thing, that is, things they know nothing about. But people who have experienced both forms of consciousness can isolate differences between the two forms of experience. Your Research Paper could focus on typical Lucid Dreams and typical Out of Body Experiences and itemize the distinctions.
