Has anyone read DREAMING WHILE AWAKE

Has anyone read DREAMING WHILE AWAKE By Arnold mindell PHD?
I just started reading it. It seems way out there as far as LDing. He talks about Dreaming with a capital D, day and night, 24 hours a day, what a goal! Does anyone think that is realistic for a goal in life?

      I have

maybe because I am an alcoholic and my therefore induced sober lack of sleep hormone......(seratonin? melatonin? not sure)

But if I have had little sleep the night before and it is late...

I see transperant dream-like visions while awake

It is especially noticable if I lie down to take a nap... I can have LD's COMPLETELY controllabe (environment, dc's, everything) while in this 10 min semi-sleep state

Im guessing it is the hormone imbalance produced by alcoholism

I can take a WAKING 10min lie-down and produce dream like visions and it refreshes me

Im guesing that is replacing my REM that is interrupted by the alcohol every night

So Im guessing I do dream while awake

I believe that his major goal is to help the individual be Lucid through the 24hr period of the day, this is a foundational training in the Tibetan systems of dream yoga..having read numerous books on Dreaming,Lucid or otherwise ..i find mindell's book to be interesting at least,, but perhaps it will help more westerners grasp the 24hr lucid dreaming concept.

That’s what I was thinking. It would be rare for a westerner.

According to this author and others they refer to being Lucid not only wile asleep but also wile awake. I just started to read the book so couldn’t tell you a whole lot about it just yet. Morpheus knows more about it then I do.

Lucidity is a state of mind that can exist at any time..usually during our day to day existence we dont question the nature of our "reality"..reality checks bring us out of that for a moment or ten during the normal day...however.. in the tibetan dream yoga one of teh foundational practices is continual lucidity maintaining the idea that all is a dream..the kitchen u are in..the people..the emotions..everything is a dream...when u realise this fully u will find continual Lucidity during both day-Dream and Night-Dream...simply because you are the same "YOU" during the day-Dream as you are in the Night-Dream.

the most important part of the practice is feeling the truth of that statement that all is dream....ill elaborate later...Star Wars is on..

Lucidly and control are not the same. You can have more control wile lucid, But not necessarily more lucidity from being in control. It is possible to have control without lucidity. You have to understand what lucidity actually is by definition.

It's a very interesting book, but it's not your typical text on lucid dreaming. It has more to do with being more aware, or lucid, of your waking experience than during sleep. I found a lot of the ideas in that book to be really abstract, but like I mentioned above, it's interesting.
