      Animals in Dreams

Do you have a certain animal that always appears in your dreams? Several animals? Do you have communication with them? Should you begin communication? What would you ask of your animal?

I'm going to bust out my dreamlog and look for animals...

10/27/04 At one point I'm in a downtown area w/ lots of red lights... Chinatown?
Then I'm in a decrepid house where people have talking animals. There's one turtle that doesn't like me and keeps giving me dirty looks...

That one was wierd... never been stared down by a turtle until then.

4/05 Walking down the aisles of a dimly lit 'pet store' or zoo with animals in tanks on shelves. Most of the tanks are very dark and I cannot see what they contain. I am looking for a pair of owls. I remember some sort of menacing charactor.. at first it is something following me, then in the form of monkeys in a cage mocking me.

4/05 ..........we decide to go for a walk. the others start to fall behind and I look back... it's just Laura... and next to her on the sidewalk are two huge 'animals'. one looks like a giant kangaroo... I turn back around and under the street light there is a man with dogs around him. He's not the kind of guy I want to talk to so I decide to fly over him.. but then I end up landing right in the midst of him and his dogs... he gives me a VERY evil look and continues to walk. Soon we are at a house, there are several people I don't know..... There is animals all over the house.... A giant green iguana walks out of a closet..(almost a dinosaur, lol) Matt kicks it square in the gut... I notice that the animals have human-like faces which start to scare me a little bit. I pet a sheep on the head and it gets really pissed off and starts pissing on the floor... I start to walk around it and it jumps up and bites my hand... and it's still pissing on the floor... wake up]

I have a lot more dreams than this about animals but these ones were written down... I always have this black dog growling and chasing after me but I've learned to just fly away when I see it...
As for helpful and kind-spirited animals... I don't see too many of those anymore.
I wish I did though.. animals rule.

Animals have meaning to them i once dreamt of evil racoons attacking me and that meant i was having trouble trusting someone since racoons are mischevious . Check out this website www.myjellybean.com and go to their dream journal. Yes its a tacky website but a friend told me it had a great dream dictionary . well i hope that helped.

      Dear Onlysleeping,

Can you remember any positive heart-warming dreams with animals, or all they all this expression of malevolence between you and the Life around you?

Do you have any pets? Did you ever have any pets? yes, there are many wild animals that are indifferent to human beings, but there are many domesticated animals who are apt to be very fond of some humans, who prove to be their friends. Even some otherwise wild animals, such as turtles, can learn to appreciate a symbiotic relationship with humans, which is how domestication begins.

If in all of your dreams it seems that every single animal seems to hate you, I think that must be expressive of how the Higher Mind... think of it as your Higher Mind... must perceive your relationship to the Life Force... the Living World all around you.

Perhaps you are too morbid. Smell the roses... don't trample them.

Of course I remember light-hearted dreams of animals...
These are only a few dreams I have posted and they were strange to me too...
I love animals and I don't feel like I have any malevolence towards other life.

If anything, my ego structure is the one percieving a threat, not my higher consciousness.

But thanks for your input... maybe I'll post some dreams that are all smiles and fuzzy kittens to balance it out for you....

I've had animal experiences too... mainly recently... I never have had animal experiences... usually lol. Anyhow... recently it's been about dogs... last year I had this dream actually it was this year. You see we have this dog... sort of... it doesn't... didn't live with us... but it lived with grandmother in another country. Anyhow... my sister really liked that dog... but we moved here and we couldn't bring it. Point is I kind of missed it too... I wish I could've get to know it a bit better... I never had a dog to play with... no one really... except my friends... but we've just moved to a new place 4 years ago... and I just realized I'm not really that social. I don't really have that many friends nowadays. So basically the dog dies. Then all of the sudden I have this dream... as usual I only remember the parts that mean to me the most... so there it is... in a street or something... and then something happens... it got caught by the pound... point is... it was pretty weird... I think it pointed to a direction before it got caught... I looked and saw something with my name on it... then all of the sudden these rush of feelings returned to me... feelings of missing my old life before we moved here, heh, I woke up right after that... but the feeling stayed with me. Then I had another dream... I've told this dream in another area of this site but anyhow... my mom is taking care of a dog in a flashback I'm having... and then she eventually takes good care of the dog... and makes it take a bath... and it was stray... I think... and she says something like "Your with us now, your part of the family" then a rush of feelings went through me in this dream too... and I said outloud in the flashback "I never had a family!" and then I woke up and as usual the feeling stayed with me.

yeah, so those were my encounters with the dog...

So now you are expressing aggression in my direction. It is nice to see you have no special antipathy toward the animal kingdom, but are willing enough to to be hostile toward living things of even your own species.

Indeed, you will have to show me some balance. I will need to be convinced that you are not uniformally mean and nasty. Please, give me at least one Dream where you are loved and give love to another living thing... until then I will stick to my original discernment, which only seems to be reinforced by the tone of your reply. .

      Good!

Now this is an instance of a Life Affirming Dream with animals in the symbology. The Mother represents the Divine Creative Principal. The Dog represents the lower material order of Creation -- the Dog is a representation of Humanity. The Mother caring for the Dog, first washing it and then later adopting it, show that you have been washed of the gross demonic disqualification to Life in the Spirit, and that you have been fairly adopted by the Higher Principalities of Heaven.

Congratulations! You are not a low-life dirty bag, but are one of a Great Spiritual Confraternity.

Now, you should watch your dreams for a Horse. Once accepted into the Confraternity of the Spirit, one needs a Steed. One can hardly be expected to walk about in one's Spiritual Quest's... one must ride. Yes, of course, we can all fly, when it comes to actuality. But the Steed is a symbol for our Spiritual Empowerment.

You have been accepted. Now you must be empowered.

I did not mean to be aggressive... I apoligize if that's how you took it.
I just was a little set back that you are making claims about my connection with nature and life based on one dream.......

Thank you. I'm glad that you have become more polite. It shows that your Dream Self is indeed making progress with you. Your Dream Self has been showing you a pattern of hostility, which perhaps you have not recognized as such. But your Dream Self would not be showing you these things if it thought you were irredeemable.

You know what they say... "To make a friend, you must be a friend". You must make an actual effort to love something. You might think you are already doing a fine job of loving things, but your Higher Mind says differently. So, prove it wrong. There is nothing it would like better.

it really is not very difficult. For instance, I maintain a Feral Cat Feeding Station. One would think that it would attract thousands of hungry stray cats, but actually the cats' own senses for territoriality prevent any serious overcrowding, as the group of cats in this territory defend their Feeding Station most resolutely. But once in awhile a new cat will come in that is so mean, nasty and brutish that all defenses against them are put to naught. it has happened more than a few times, and at first I always resent having to feed the new invaders. I give them awful insulting names, and contemplate murdering them. But time goes on and I find myself expecting them at feeding time and worrying if they fail to show up. After a few months go by, they are walking at my side, and I rehabilitate their names somewhat to give them more respectability. What does this mean? It means that you do not even have to try. Just give your time over to the service of other living things -- animals, people -- and you will be drawn in to the Sympathy of the Higher Collective Life Force.
