      Dreaming emotions

This is a hard post to write. Not because it's particularly hard to share, it's just so abstract I can't really describe it. The basic scenario is this: ~6 years ago I had a vivid dream scene I remember to this day. In that scene I was overwhelmed with an emotion I had never felt in real life. Over the next 6 years I would encounter it more in dreams, and now in the last 6 months I've been feeling it in real life as well.

It's not an emotion I can associate with any real-world stimulus. Nothing similar triggers it in dreams or real life - hence it's f-ing hard to describe. So I'll try when it's not 2am in the morning.

But the purpose of this post was to ask. Has anyone else invented an emotion in their dreams? I guess if you can dream you are doing something you never truly have, you can dream an emotion you've never truly felt?

I have experienced emotions and perceptual contents/fabrics that I can only reach in dreams. I can really get somewhere with them in lucid dreams. When you have a lucid dream and can control it, you have an infinite universe of emotional and perceptual experiences you can explore. In lucid dreams, I can experience forms of mind expansion that are very difficult to describe and go worlds beyond any kind of psychedelic drug experience I have had.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

      strange emotion

I've had a feeling in a dream similar to a panic attack. It was a mixture of being scared and dissappointed at the same time, but no visual was associated with it, only something similar to tv fuzz. I woke up sad and scared beyond belief. I had several of these dreams as a child, and a brief one about 6 years ago, but none since. The emotion was really like nothing I've felt in real life.

Ive felt emotions ive never experienced in waking life and emotions that ive brought over from dreamland just when waking up. I think the more we experience and remember dreams, the fuller the specter of life will be on all fronts. Like emotions. Its like the boarders between waking and dreaming fades away with experience and all there is is a single line of living both dream life and waking life with equal value.

When awake if not aware one tends to stress trough the day not giving the emotions much attention. They are there but we are not noticing them. Its like Universal Mind says. We have much more stimulus and subtle emotions to grasp when dreaming cause they are more available than when awake, and much stronger.

      Re: Dreaming emotions

It's kind of hard because I'm not sure if anyone else has felt it. I did have a dream where it ended up with me feeling a large sensation of peace and light... but there's another strange feeling I get that I rather found in the real world. It's a sensation of not existing... it's really hard to explain... kind of an advanced form of "why am I here?" type feeling... but taken up a notch...

spoon, I can kind of relate to your post. About three or four years ago I had a very vivid dream in which I was holding this anima figure tight in my arms. I was experienceing this strange mix of love/longing/hope/empathy. In other words an emotion so intense and multifaceted you can't explain it. Anyway, I was holding her, and I knew I was waking up. But, the emotion was so intense I felt like maybe if I held on tight enough she'd wake up with me.

Ever since then I get moments where I feel that all over again. Consequentially when I see my anima in my dreams now, we always end up embracing and that same undescribable feeling passes between us.

Yeah, I've had the same experiance..

In one dream, someone was trying to break through a door that was in front of me.. Suddenly, the thing just floated through the door and it was a Gengar (Ghost pokemonthingy.) That was back when Ruby/Saphire had just came out, and I was playing that game addictingly. xD
Then the thing just sorta floated straight towardme, and I felt some emotion that was like Utter dispare, happyness, relief, and other emotions combined as the dream faded, and it changed to another dream setting which had to do with something that happened eariler in the dream, but it was different.
      It was weird o-0
