      Arial acrobatics

Last night I became Lucid in my dream. I had been having trouble with stabilization, but have found for me at least looking at the floor is very successful... even better than rubbing my hands I think (maybe I'm more of a visual guy). once I stabilized, I decided to fly and was off to a good start. For some reason I decided I'd try something fancy and was going to do an arial sommersault. Unfortunately, as I was preparing to flip I was thinking about the position my body was in, just like I would in reality (which is normal I think for someone doing a forward flip), but that brought me out of the dream. I'm thinking that considering my body made me think of my physical body's position. Anyone ever try a forward flip in a dream? I assume it can be done by an experienced person. Did I "overthink" the flip as being a "real" flip, and should I have just "thought the thought" and done it? Any ideas?

Could have destabilized for 2 reasons I think:

As you said, you thought too much about your body and that brought you back to your real body.

Or you tried to do something that was over complicated and difficult. Think about it- doing a somersault requires many different things. You need to know which way you are going to flip, you have to know which way is up during the flip, you have to think about where your arms and legs are and the kicker really is the whirl of motion as you flip. This usually messes up lucid dreams, much like the spinning method, but when you combine it with a want to go somewhere else and you control it, it helps you. A somersault may as well be the best get out of a dream technique ever.

It takes a few test flies before you can pull off cool stunts. I recommend space as a goal to reach with more experience.
