Thread: Praying in LD's

This was one of the first things I wanted to do when I became lucid!

I wanted to go see Jesus and thank him for everything we've done.

But then I realized it would be just my imgination.

But hey, why not? Its some kind of thank you. ^^

Several members have had some fairly impressive dreams by praying at the onset of Lucidity. A certain marian Catholic was reciting the 'Hail Mary' prayer and he reported having been swooped up into Heaven by a huge vortex of spiritual energy. he doesn't remember what happened when he got there, but when he came out the other side, he was saying a different prayer, as though it were given to him.

This member reported his apparent success to another member who then tried it herself. Not having much luck with the 'Hail Mary', she went with the "Our Father" was was taken up to a great Wall with cryptic writings upon it. I thought she was right on the very edge of Heaven, and the next week she got through -- she was presented with some Riddle of the Sphinx and was allowed to pass through into the Light of Heaven.. and was allowed to remember something of the experience.

Her friend, who had tried the 'Hail Mary' was intrigued by the success the lady had had with the Our Father prayer and tried it himself. Instantly an Angel presented him with a Book, on which the place where the Title should have been glowed with a White Light as the Our Father Prayer was recited.


I myself have had a good deal of luck with simple Mantras. Just the AUM Mantra was enough, one time, to tear a hole in the Fabric of Space, about 10 meters in front of me, to allow the Pure White Light to pour out -- large quantities of the light shooting directly into my forehead.

Intriguing! I'm new to lucidity, but I have been thinking about this type of concept. As I feel more comfortable with mantras than with praying, I will definitely try this some time. I don't want to build my expectations, but I'm really curious as to what you usually experience when reciting a mantra in an LD. I wonder about meditation in LD too. Maybe that will make the dream vanish. I don't know.

Oh, almost a half a century ago, my Guru came to me in a Dream and told me "a few seconds of Meditation in a Dream is worth thousands of hours of Waking Meditation". Thus the efficiency of simply floating up in a levitating Lotus Position and intoning AUM just once or twice. Instantly a great deal of Spiritual Energy will rush into one.

A friend of mine once noticed that chanting the AUM MANI PADME HUM Mantra would make him spin in one direction, while reciting that Buddhist Mantra designed for Japanese Nationalism -- the NAM MYO HO REN GAY KYO Mantra -- would make him spin in the other direction. It indicates that not all Mantras are created equal.

My Dream of the White Light followed a year of doing the Gayatri Mantra -- a rather long Mantra which I never did in a dream... but did in those "thousand waking hours", and it seemed to have an effect.

The Brahmins claim that Mantras must be pronounced absolutely correctly, but it must be a setup for a huge inside Joke, since every recording they release which instructs on the proper pronounciation of Sanskrit renders the pronouciations discernably different. Therefore, I can only conclude that one need only make a best effort to get the Mantra right, but should not be overscrupulous in worrying about Perfection of Pronounciation, as most people will suppose something is wrong, even if none of them can agree on just what that is. However, one can certainly aspire to get the AUM correct. It should start with an open AAAAAA which slowly rounds out through OOOOOO to UUUUU and ends in the closed buzz of MMMMMMMMM. If one decides to open one's spiritual chakras in the head, one might consider modulating the buzz of the MMMMMM up and down the scale in order to open up the various levels of one's Spiritual Being.

That's very inspiring. I love the old AUM (a.k.a. OM). When I feel fancy I usually do the OM NAMAH SHIVAYA. Looking forward to try this soon.

An old story speaks about a similar problem. A devoted meditator, after years concentrating on a particular mantra, had attained enough insight to begin teaching. The student's humility was far from perfect, but the teachers at the monastery were not worried.
A few years of successful teaching left the meditator with no thoughts about learning from anyone; but upon hearing about a famous hermit living nearby, the opportunity was too exciting to be passed up.
The hermit lived alone on an island at the middle of a lake, so the meditator hired a man with a boat to row across to the island. The meditator was very respectful of the old hermit. As they shared some tea made with herbs the meditator asked him about his spiritual practice. The old man said he had no spiritual practice, except for a mantra which he repeated all the time to himself. The meditator was pleased: the hermit was using the same mantra he used himself -- but when the hermit spoke the mantra aloud, the meditator was horrified!
"What's wrong?" asked the hermit.
"I don't know what to say. I'm afraid you've wasted your whole life! You are pronouncing the mantra incorrectly!"
"Oh, Dear! That is terrible. How should I say it?"
The meditator gave the correct pronunciation, and the old hermit was very grateful, asking to be left alone so he could get started right away. On the way back across the lake the meditator, now confirmed as an accomplished teacher, was pondering the sad fate of the hermit.
"It's so fortunate that I came along. At least he will have a little time to practice correctly before he dies." Just then, the meditator noticed that the boatman was looking quite shocked, and turned to see the hermit standing respectfully on the water, next to the boat.
"Excuse me, please. I hate to bother you, but I've forgotten the correct pronunciation again. Would you please repeat it for me?"
"You obviously don't need it," stammered the meditator; but the old man persisted in his polite request until the meditator relented and told him again the way he thought the mantra should be pronounced.
The old hermit was saying the mantra very carefully, slowly, over and over, as he walked across the surface of the water back to the island.

I'm actually hindu, and the thought of reciting our prays and religious mantras like OM NAMAH SHIVAYA., never came to me. My mom told me to says small prays like that unitl I fell asleep when I was little, to ward off nightmares. It worked, and now that I am trying to get lucid I will have to see where that can take me.

Well i once tryed to do something religious in a Lucid Dream, I was flying and i said maybe i can go to heaven but then i lost concentration and the dream ended.

I used to Chant with the Siddha Yoga (Guru Muktananda's people ... now Gurumayi Chidvilasananda's Organization -- she's the World's 'prettiest' Guru) People, and one of their most beautiful Chants was the "Om Nama Shivaya". At one time I was semi-famous for my tabala drum playing and my beautiful chanting voice. It was not that I was so good on the drums, but it was because I would look to the strings for their lead, when many drummers suppose that the rhythm is entirely up to them. Well, its not. The String players would call me in as lead percussionist, knowing that I would follow their lead in timing, mode, feeling and volume (with almost a sixth sense of knowing what the strings would do next. They were always amazed that if they decided to improvise, that I would hit their same riff seamlessly... I think I was something of a mind reader in those musical settings). I could also sense when they were coming into their own highest ecstacies and would back off to let them have virtual solos, when the other drummers in the region would have beat it down straight through. So, as in other aspects of life, sometimes Discretion is in greater demand than pure Talent. I was not the Best Drummer, but I was the Drummer that the String Sections would call first -- I made them sound good.

Remember, the most important thing regarding Heaven is that one must approach It in the Angelic Frame of Mind, and not from the Demonic Orientation. You see, the Story of the Fallen Angels is perhaps only a metaphor that indicates that all Selfishness is rejected from Heaven. So in order get through those Gates, one needs to acknowledge the Supremacy of Heaven, and place one's self well under Heavenly Authority. One must consciously be a Team Player. You cannot overrun Heaven as some Barbaric Individual.

it is the assumption of Marian Catholic, and those of the other Goddess Religions, that Our Lady is the Queen of Heaven -- that She commands all of the Loyal Angels, and distributes all there is of Grace. If one wants a Sponsor for a visit into Heaven, I would recommend one apply to Her. Perhaps the easist way to enlist Her Patronage would be to wear a Miraculous Medal ( take a look at this Web Site: http://www.marys-touch.com/Saints/medal/medal.htm ). No, one does not need any 'faith'. The Blessing behind the Powers of the Miraculous Medal specifically declare that all Power is in the Medals themselves and has nothing to do with the Faith, or lack of Faith, in those who wear them. I wear a 24K Miraculous Medal, but they can be bought in pewter from any Catholic Religous Goods Store for sometimes less than a dollar a piece... a couple dollars more for a 24inch chain.

the first thing i'm going to do next time i'm lucid (a nearly 4 month drought now), is to talk to my personal goddess and my angel.

the thing is that i rationally know that they exist only in my imagination, but they feel so real to me. i can't connect to them to real life, they always hide behind doorways and just out of my sight. i so desperately need to talk to them, and tell them how much they mean to me.

One of the last lucid dreams I had I prayed. I dod not have a preconcieved notion to do so either.
But when I did. Well I don't really know if I am experianced enough in this realm. But I don;t think I was ready for it.

As hard to admit as it is ... I agree with Jay Dawg. I think religion was invented to give people hope and something to live for. Personally, I don't believe any of it. I seriously don't understand how people can simply ignore factual, tangible evidence of things like evolution and believe that everything started with Adam and Eve - how naive is that? Religion is the sole reason everyone is at war today (Christians vs. Muslims, etc, etc, and the list goes on and on). It's just not worth it.

But back on topic - No, I've never tried praying in a lucid dream. Although I have meditated and accidentally drifted off into very vivid lucid dreams. Probably the same concept.

anyway having faith doesn't necessarily mean one doesn't believe in hard science. there is plently of non-contradictory metaphysical space for both to exist simultaneously.

but yes, certain organised religons aren't big on acknowledging many scientific understandings.

religon is usually only an excuse for war, war takes place for the usual grubbily human reasons of fear and/or a power/land/money grab.

in this case all wars are faught over religion, it is just ONE example of how religion is used as a form of control over society. after all we must KILL THE EVIL DO-ers RIGHT? i mean all of a suddon there are all these terrorists everywhere right? KILL THEM!! right?

people need to expand their minds to see that in this case it is just a war of religions. what is a terrorist? it is a middle eastern, who all happen to be muslum (just like our life it is sad that the life we live in controls us). if you hear on the news that 2 more terrorists were killed u are hearing shit and lies. what they are really should say is "another precious human being with a beutiful life of worth was gunned downed by an evil brainwashed american soldier today, yes he was trying to defend his own land against the incoming invaders. sadly he was murdered today." since when is defending your life make u a fucking terrorist? god damnit. what all these terrorists were just waiting for us to show up? and suddonly all these arabs are blowing up their own cars? who could believe any of this besides a drugged society. whats really happening is the army is having fun with their toys.

o yea praying in a dream may just be a way to mentally move you or help u in a way but its all in your head.

Hm. The Theory of Evolution is not based on factual eviedence. Like the name says, it's just a theory.

People might think they have an opportunity to choose what they like, but actually they have an opportunity to choose between pre-set beliefs. Mankind is lacking imagination to realize what it's missing. People following the scientifical theory of evolution might think themselves as being deifferent from people believing in "intelligent design". Actually, not. Both are just blind sets of beliefs - no-one cares if you believe in a god of somekind or the scientific ideology, the important part is that you believe in SOMETHING that keeps you behind prohibitions from developing different views.

uh duh? if the bible is true then the first creations were of 100% pure genes (not like the shitgenes we have today) and you could freak your sister and mom all day and you would still have perfect kids. duh

plus back then we were more animal like. seeing a naked bum would draw someone to it no matter who it was. you see as humans we live in manmade thing called a society.

So all the fossils and carbon dating (scientific evidence) is just a theory? Nice try, but no. It's actual tangible facts that proves that organisms on this earth have evolved and/or become extinct (long before the Bible says the world was created).

Getting into a debate with people who want to continue to believe what they will is pointless. I'm simply asking people to open their minds, don't get offended, and see that there could be a completely different beginning to the world as they were lead to believe in the past. And since no one in this forum is the end-all-be-all of science or religion, getting pissed off at people for voicing their personal beliefs or opinions is completely defeating the purpose.

more dumb people, im not saying if the bible is true or not but if it is then it is scientifically true in everything including the fact that yes bones are millions of years old and all. thats because we are not gods first creation. nowhere in the bible does it say time began 6 thousand years ago. even in the first few verses it makes mention of the earth and waters and the universe already being here BEFORE he started creating the whole adam and eve thing. he remade earth again to start a new game that is humanity. a sick game actually. most people arent smart enough to figure anything out but alot of people do actually know this already (just ask any jewish rabbi). thus the scientific timeline is still true aswell as the bible all at the same time. duh

dont make me get into the whole change of the magnetic field overtime. the earth could be even older or younger than any scientist could ever figure out anyway.
