Hard time keeping my eyes closed

I have been having a strange problem with my eyes staying shut while trying WILDs, even when its very early in the process. But lately its been getting worse, I cannot even attempt a WILD, and its starting to affect my regular sleep, for when I even THINK (no matter how briefly), of lucid dreams while I am trying to go to sleep, my eyes start to tremble, move around under my eyelids uncontrollably, and they feel like their rolling up into my head. It was really bad last night, it took about an hour and a half to fall asleep and I was very tired.

Anyone have an idea what this is?

      I have this EXACT problem

I hate when this happens and I have no idea why it does, but it does happen fairly often (last night for example) I didn’t sleep at all for one night then the next I slept for 6 hrs and got up, I stayed up for an hour because I was going to do my easy WILD technique and I laid down to WILD and my eyes started hurting with a being pushed on pain not a poking pain but just like I was pushing on them with my thumbs, the best way I see to make it less annoying is to say "breathe in breathe out, one" and just keep counting till you drift off, also try and make up small stories in your head and visualize them usually this helps
~I wake up a little more every time I dream.

use a sleepingmask, or do as i : fold a tshirt, and wrap it around your head.

My friend gave me for a gift an eye mask that is filled with gel. It is very comfortable and helps me keep my eyes shut. Just offering the suggestion.

I don't know if this would work for you SantaDreamsToo, but I love helping people out so here's the suggestion:

With the gel eyemask--you can heat it or freeze it. Maybe with it heated it will soothe your eyes and even the facial muscles around them. It might help.

For me its not like a pushing pain - it feels like my eyes are going crazy and like someone is pulling my elelids open. I have tried the thing santa suggested - visualization and trying to drift off. It didnt really work and it made it worse. I wrapped a long sleeve shirt around my eyesnd it helped - but the knot in the back was uncomfortable and when I turned the knot to the side it didnt help. I was thinking about getting a sleeping mask. The gel mask sounds like a good idea. I'll try it out if this persists.
