Congrats on the recall 
I personally think you shouldn't worry about getting to SP. It's not what you should aim to achieve, as it is not necessary in order to have a lucid dream. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't you can still continue to have a lucid dream. Also, what many people call "sleep paralysis" is not actually sleep paralysis (not always, at least). Most of what people describe are just normal bodily sensations we may or may not experience as our body is falling asleep, and not necessarily sleep paralysis. These can include tingling, heaviness, hallucinations, etc.
