Lightbulb How long can a lucid dream be? (In real time)

Lucid dreaming (generally) occurs in REM, I've heard that some people are able to extend their lucid dreams and thus their REM.

My question is (for those who have a Zeo or similar), for how long can you extend a lucid dream and how rested you feel afterwards?

      Thanks

P.S: Yes, this is inspired by dreamviews "staying up all night" slogan, yes, I aspire to that, if possible

First of all, sleep cycle and sleep stages may differ slightly in duration, but i never heard serious reports of ppl extending them extensively under normal circunstances. Also, there's reports of lucid dreams in non rem sleep, so that might be the case when you hear of "extending".

Do you mean the dream time or the actual sleep time?

If you are talking about dream time then it's very possible to extend. i have heard of people who had lucid dream that lasted years.

If you are talking about sleep time then dunno, you are still kinda limited by REM, but then again there's REM rebound so i think it might be possible.

According to LaBerge's experiment of eye-moment, theoretically it can only be according to real-time. I have heard of instances where experienced dreamers have dreamt for days, months and in one case, even years at a time, without the standard time-skipping experience which can be common in 'long dreams'. For example, check out the more recent entries in Hyu's Blog. Another dreamer which 'time dilated' quite often (if not nightly) was Hukif.

It's physically impossible to dream for more time than you've been asleep, I was asking about real-REM-time dilation.

But anyway, thanks for the info and the link
