      Little bit scared of flying.

Hello dreamers, I've haven't been here for a while. Now I am better at becoming lucid . I had a dream at the morning, became lucid. So I tried to fly. And I did it successfully. But I started flying really too fast and woke up within 10 seconds because of fear. So how I can get used to flying?

P.S. I am also interested how to make dreams last longer.

Even after lucid dreaming for several years, I still have a lot of trouble keeping flight. It can be hard to control. it's one of those things some people have a knack for, and others have to work at.

The more you practice flying and other "intense" events in dreams, the less your body/mind will overly react to the stimuli and emotion these things create; you will soon be able to stay asleep easier without waking from the excitement.

as for making dreams last longer, it is all about maintaining groundedness in the dream. i like to stare at my hands, every minute or so, to reinforce myself in the dream. this keeps the dream foundation strong. if the foundation of the dream begins to collapse...if you find yourself beginning to wake up....spinning your dream body in circles has always worked wonders for me. this is, as far as I know, generally, the most popular technique for keeping oneself in the dream.

Spin your dream body round and round...most always you'll stay in the dream, after it begins to collapse, or you will appear in a new dream altogether. my beginning lucid dreams lasted only minutes. they now last, what I believe to be, near an hour or above, usually.

Flying has a tendency to wake me up also... but its not fear. Its the adrenaline rush I get from doing it. I try to avoid flying (although it is a tempting mistress) and simply walk through the dreamscape taking in the fantastic details. After you have flown a few times the fear will subside but the excitement of flying will always be there to some degree or another.

Everything comes with practice. Remember, flying isn't the only way to commute in a LD!
