Strange first few lucid dreams. advice anybody?

      Hi people,

1st post! A few months ago I had an amazing spontaneous lucid dream, not my first ever but definitely the first that made me want to make the effort to look into lucid dreaming and try to induce more. I've been kinda lurking around here an reading about techniques blah blah, I've been dream journaling and MILDing most nights since. Since then I've had three lucid dreams, all similar, all quite disappointing.

The first one I became lucid I was staring at a blank blue screen. It reminded me of the 'blue screen of death' when you comp crashes but without the writing, just a blank blue screen. I became lucid, stared at this blue screen for a bit, I felt like I was waiting for a menu to appear or something, then I woke up. I didn't even have the sense of being embodied.

Next one I was having quite a vivid dream, I was at a house party and a sexy girl was murdering people with an axe, it was really bloody but not scary for some reason I was just kinda observing.. Then I realised it was a dream, I began to stare at my hands, when everything went black, and once again I was just staring into a blank space.

My most recent lucid experience was last night. I thought I was actually somebody else, detective Jimmy McNulty from 'the Wire'. It was so weird. I was chasing a guy through a skate park, we were both on roller blades. I attained lucidity in two stages. First I realised I was in a dream, but I still thought I was McNulty, I stared to explore the dream. After a few moments I'm in an empty hall way, there is absolutely nothing but walls and a floor and a roof and me. Then I realise that I'm not McNulty, then the lucidity really hits me. I stare at my hands for a bit, and I'm still in this empty hallway. It felt so blank, I thought 'ok I'll try to summon up a beautiful lady'. I tried and only got a very hazy outline of a person. I tried saying "Clarity! Now!" like I've read on this site somewhere for improving clarity within dreams, but this woke me up instead.

I have been having lots of vivid dreams lately, some amazing ones, but it feels like every time I become lucid the detail fades and I'm left in some void of nothing. Just wondering if anybody has had similar experiences to these 'blank' lucid dream experiences? And possibly is there a way to deal with them?

      Yo, congrats on lucid dreams.
It's actually pretty common for a first few lucid dreams to be short, this tutorial will help though: Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views
I have tried the 'Clarity' shout myself recently though and i can say it's not the best stabilization method for beginners, I ended up waking up from it as well, i would suggest rubbing hands and feeling objects in dream with all dream senses, works for me when i remember to do it.
