      Question Lucid Dreaming or not??

      Hello everyone!

So I've been researching lucid dreaming and talking about it a lot with friends for the past few weeks now. I've been keeping a dream journal, telling myself I will either remember my dreams or become lucid in one before bed. This morning I woke up to the sound of a doorbell and went to grab a package then went back to sleep. After this I had a dream where something, not entirely sure what, made me do a reality check. I looked at my hands and all of the sudden it seemed like I became very focused(almost like a burst of air flying into my face) and realized I was dreaming. I started to breathe heavily and eventually calmed myself down. I looked over and a Christmas tree was flying towards me in my kitchen. The very first thing I thought of was to close my eyes and exit the dream but I used "the force" or at least I think I did to push it away. I've read all of these posts about telekinesis and wanted to try it out so I did and started picking stuff up around the room. I also attempted to fly which didn't work at all and very shortly after that I woke up. My problem here is that I'm not entirely sure if it was a lucid dream or not... I don't remember the dream as being very vivid like most people say they are. I've never had a lucid dream before so this would be my first one, my dream recall has improved since I started and I remember about 3 of my dreams if they occur in the morning after waking up and going back to sleep. I also didn't remember this dream until I was describing the two other dreams I had that night to a friend. If anyone could give some insight on what was going on or what layer of lucidity I was on, it would be much appreciated! Sorry about the long post, just had to figure out what happened, I'm so excited!

      Thanks in advance!

Yo and congrats on the first lucid dream!
Being lucid means being aware of that you are dreaming, which you were, so you were indeed lucid! Not all lucid dreams are vivid, vividness often depends on awareness, which can be increased with practice, also it can be increased by stabilizing the dream: Dream Stabilization and Clarity Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views , i personally prefer the 'engaging senses' and 'rubbing hands' methods.
Good job recalling it too! That's why improving recall is important, because even though lucid dreams are easier to remember, if we don't wake up right after them other dreams might still override memory if it's not trained enough.
About layers, there are no layers of lucidity to speak of i believe, and as i said it's all depends on one's awareness level.

Alright thanks for clearing that up! Now I'm even more excited to have more and start exploring! Next time I get into one I'll try rubbing my hands and hope it helps. Thanks again!

Agreed with what checker said. Congrats on the lucid!
Generally, your dream vividity and control should improve the more you get the lucids. Good luck

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
