      Does staying in your bed during the day affect dream recall/lucidity rates?

      I don't know if there is a similar thread or not, so if there is a link would be awesome, but does staying in your bed throughout the day affect your dreaming?
      I tend to spend a fair few hours in my bed each day, seeing as its the holidays, and I am wondering whether it might affect my recall or ability to get lucid. I normally use a computer, listen to music and read in my bed, and these are all things where you get kind of caught up in the narrative kind of and lose focus and consciusness a bit, so I was wondering if doing these kind of activities in bed would be detrimental to obtaining lucidity? The way I see it is that there is a connection between your bed in waking life and when asleep, as it could affect your subconscious and build up habits. I'm really not sure where I am going with this now, but is there any connection between spending time in bed and what you do in bed and dream recall/lucidity?

      I've never had the things I do in bed affect my lucidity later on, there's almost no correlation between my nightly activities and whether or not I get lucid, it's just a random thing for me. But it's different for everyone, so it may affect you. Whenever you have a lucid dream, write down also what you were doing the night before, and after a few times you'll notice if there's a common connection between them.

      I do think that doing things in bed will affect your recall though. I mean, if you wake up and start reading or browsing the web, your memories of your dream are going to be immediately pushed to the side. I usually lay in bed with my eyes closed for about ten minutes after waking up to go over my dreams and cement them into my waking memory before I actually get out of bed. I've also noticed that when I go over them a few times like that, I'll start to remember small details about my dream later in the morning, when I'm showering and such, that I didn't think of when I was in bed.

      Doing other things than sleeping could cause insomnia. But I don't think it has anything to do with lucidity. But if you spend an increasing time there and less time outside you should do reality checks often, as this will bleed into your dreams.

      On a related topic I just got a new bed today, as my old one was pretty decrepit and caved in on one side (I don't know how it got like that). I was wondering if being in a new bed might also impact your recall/lucidity, as in my mind it is similar to when you go on holiday/sleep somewhere else, which I know boosts lucidity/recall rates (well for me anyway I think.)

      Your level of awareness, intention and expectation to have a lucid dream will affect your dream recall and lucidity rate.
      Anything that can improve what is mentioned above will increase your success rate

      So if you will be thinking "fuck yea, new bed, I am going to have cool lucid's now" or if you will stay in bed and keep planning, imaging your future dreams and will not forget to do a reality check from time to time then yes they will increase your success rate.

      Thanks for the post. I have been guilty of lounging in bed through the day especially on a lazy rainy day. There is some great advice here. When I am spending more time lounging in bed the idea of more reality checks is a excellent call.

      I spend a fair amount of time on my bed, when I get the opportunity, and I think that as long as you are doing things that you enjoy, it shouldn't affect recall. It's likely only if you start to associate your bed with work or stress then it would affect your recall.
      But yeah, remembering to RC, I need to do that....
