Kicking back those pesky dry spells

Well, hope is brimming these days, as my dream recall is going well beyond the 1-per-month it was last year. But comparing my experiences to when I first started LDing back in 2008, it can be encouraging at times.

When I first discovered Lucid Dreams 5 years ago, I was SO determined to break the ice. I managed a lucid experience about a week into recording dreams. Not only that, but I had lucid dreams EVERY DAY for almost 2 weeks! A few more scattered here and there. But sadly, in the last 2-ish years, my dream recall has gone down. Not even a single lucid experience. All my LDs were DILD, so I attempted the WILD method alternatively, but sadly....to no avail.

Anybody else experience LONG dry spells like this? What have you done to break this tough ground?

If your recall has gone down, maybe you just haven't remembered having a lucid experience? I find that even if I don't practice in a long time, I'll get an occasional partially lucid or at least lucidity themed dream, like a kick in the butt that I'm neglecting my dreams.

Also if you're like me you might get this "meh" attitude sometimes like the dreams you remember aren't good enough to write down, or what's the point in writing down fragments... But that just makes things worse. I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to dream recall. If you try every morning to just write down something, even if it's something so simple it doesn't seem to matter, it will help the recall just by putting in the effort of trying to remember. When I have dry spells I have to kind of rededicate myself to everything, and remind myself that none of this is an overnight thing. I tend to expect certain results in short periods of time and get discouraged when it doesn't work out that way. Keep your head up, keep trying.

I've actually been listening to the DV Podcasts lately at work and in the car, it seems to help keep my mind on the goal during my "normal" waking day where I usually forget all about dreaming and lucidity.

Yeah, I think I had been slacking off with the DJ entries. This past week alone my recall has tripled. Lucid Experience is on the way!

      Thanks!
