Thread: Why are some Dream Characters so Smug ................

In my experience, dream characters are often "working against me" whether I am lucid or not. It is not every DC, but even people who are otherwise friendly towards me IRL can act as enimies in (mostly) non-lucid dreams.

For me, I would have to say that most of my dreams include some sort of problem that I am faced with. Sometimes these problems could come in the form of simple social interactions, or elaborate movie-like scenarios. Much less often do I get to enjoy a truely sublime dream, but I think part of the nature of dreaming is to sometimes set yourself up against certain odds.

Perhaps this is why they are so sarcastic? Dying and being reborn everytime you sleep, maybe they just got cynical about it, and see you as the cause of this, being that you are the one who wakes up, not them. That is, if there is a common link in dream characters. I.E. the same dream characters in each dream.

I think this would depend on the person. Some people might be very full of themselves deep down, and they are just expressions of that feeling. You never know.

I once had a dream character ask me how it could come to the waking world. There is much we don't know about dream characters. But I think they do know more than they let on about the waking world. After if they are part of our brains, they have the access to the concious side too. Just as the concious has access to the subconcious, hence, lucid dreaming.



Which begs the question, is there such a thing as dream waking? Or maybe this is just a commonly occuring thing we just label differently. Who knows.. Anyhow, good question

I think its up to you how your dream characters are, if they are DC's of people you know they can be the impression that you subcounscious has of them or what you are afraid of what this people in real life might do, but in my experience they can be pretty nasty.

I think you can find a way that they be nice with you, i think its trying no to destroy them or hate them, i think that anger might returned to you for there actions. I have insulted alot of them.

About the whole soul thing I don't know..

I seriously believe all scientific evaluation takes the Mystery and Fun out of becoming Lucid. (For me anyways).

If there was no scientific evaluation, you probably would'nt even know Lucid Dreaming exists.

Well there is always Eau Natural !!!. Maybe they are Content in their own universe.....Let's face it..........this isn't Nirvana !!!. Maybe the DC'c bought a one way ticket out of here.

I wonder what makes you believe that some impending Doom awaits Dream Characters? It is easy enough to suppose that Dream Characters are kinds of Immortal Spirits... that while human beings are born and die, the Dream Characters live on and on in the Collective Consciousness.

I don't think dream characters are conscious beings. They are figments of your imagination. But because they look so real and are in a realm other than the waking world, the dreamer is at least a bit spooked by them. This state of being spooked is manifested in their look of arrogance. In other words, you are intimidated by them because they are extremely bizarre entities that almost (or fully) seem supernatural. Because you know subconsciously that you are intimidated by them, you read arrogance into them as a result of the power you know they have over you. You read arrogance because you think they have a reason to be arrogant. Has anybody ever accused you of being arrogant when you weren't? It was probably because they saw you as better than they were at something or a girl they liked had a crush on you or something. Intimidation can put on the illusion of arrogance. When a dreamer thinks his dream characters are arrogant, they are going to act like it on a very visible level because they are complete projections of the dreamer's mind.

When people do really strong hallucinogenic drugs and experience terror, the humanoid/organismic/spirit hallucinations seem EXTREMELY arrogant and hostile in most cases.

interesting. In my dreams my dream characters are so friendly and nice. I always feel so loved and accepted in my dreams. Maybe it's kind of the opposite of real life. In real life I'm always worrying wut people think and I never feel completely comfortable. but in my dreams I feel so good. It might just be the attitude you guys have toward ur dcs. You try to threaten them and of course part of ur mind is going to rebel and want to have them acting all smug. I mean really u can't hurt them or kill them. They'll always be there because they can just randomely show up in ur next dream. I mean u can kill them but they'll still be there. Idk maybe I'm just crazy.

i agreee, because it doesn't matter whats been proven or disproven or tested because as long as we know it happened in our dreams , it has! who cares if we're insane! (that was an example, not exactly on topic). but anyways maybe ur DCs are smug because you have an outlook on life that suggests that other people always think that they have some reason to think that they are better than you. (just a thought. im not diagnosing)
