      Achieve a clear mind...

i learned about your site last night
and read about MILDs and WILDS and all that good stuff

i tried a MILD and drank a glass of milk befreo i went to sleep
i cleared my mind, but i kept thinking of stuff, i dont want to blame it on my ADHD but i dont know

anyways, i couldnt fall asleep, and i jsut kept thinking to myself to have a lucid dream, wake up after it, adn remember it
when i had thought that for about 5 minutes, i cleared my mind

i woke up the next morning and didnt remeber a thing

      help?

You're not going to give up after one night, are you? Lucid dreaming takes a lot of practice, and so does dream recall. There are several things you can do throughout the day to increase your chances of both. It is a practice in dream yoga (Eastern version of lucid dreaming) to "contemplate the dream-like nature of reality. In western terms, it means continualy asking yourself all day: "Am I dreaming?" As it becomes a habbit, your chances of going lucid begin to increase. Also, keep a dream journal. Even if you haveb't remembered any dreams yet, keep a notebook and pen by your bed; it goes a long way in convincing your subconscious that you intend to remember your dreams.

As for having an active mind, I can relate. WILDs are especialy tough for people like us, because we have a tendency to constantly evaluate what we experience. I don't think I'm ready for those yet. For you, I think the most effective method for both recall and lucidity will be the WBTB method (Wake Back To Bed). Check out the tutorials section if you need a refresher

I hope that helps! Oh, and BTW, welcome to DV!

Hi and Welcome. You should take the time to read the tutorials here and don't give up. There are experienced lucid dreamers that have nights without remembering a dream. You will and when you do don't forget to write down as much as you can remember. It’s a good idea when you wake not to move your body until you have remembered as much as you can and you will.

Oh yeah, practice, and plenty of it.
Seeker (a man you will come to respect and the moderator) once said it took him a very long time before he was able to succesfully do a WILD. I believe it was 3 months.
Its something you gotta work at, some people more than others.

You know, I kind of had a similar problem when I was younger...I wouldn't sleep until 1AM, & would sleep only until 9AM...the way I fell asleep was just trying to relax, despite how bad the insomnia was...I would just relax, until I would fall asleep.....with the help of WILDing....just try to relax, & you'll eventually fall asleep..
It is possible to do WILD if you stay up a couple of hours past your normal bedtime....you might try that on a weekend!
      BTW, welcome to the Forum!
