Why did I not become lucid?

So I was in my dream and I literally remember being in my 4th block class (I go to the primary school for that block) and all little kids were in the room (I was also in the future), at one point I was hiding in one of the desks to teleport somewhere and said "This is a lucid dream!" I kept saying it but never did a reality check. I'm suprised I didnt do one cause i've had 2 lucid dreams where i looked at my hands. I remember before going to bed I kept thinking the mantra "I lucid dream tonight!" could have that made me in the dream said "this is a lucid dream."?

You were having a dream about having a lucid dream?

      That's deep.

I somehow suspect that my two last LD were only dreams about lucid dreaming. I don't really care tbh by now, because both were really cool and memorable experiences, and its an illusion nevertheless... so what's the problem if I only dreamt about being in control?

I mean, i read a ton of stuff here and try to wrap my mind around the stuff in waking live. Since I can remember my dreams often involved stuff I had on my mind that day, but sometimes in a warped, strange way. If i read here: flip a lightswitch inside your dream, it won't work! Then I think I somehow expect this to happen in my dream as well. I am not yet convinced that this was truly lucid dreaming but it really doesn't matter. I have very good recall of the first and ok recall of the second dream, both were "HD" so I don't have much to complain about.

But... my very first LD experience was so much more physical, as short and idiotic as it might have seemed. This was a WILD, the other two were DILD. Maybe thats the difference in vividness and general feel of the dreams.

I think it would not be too strange to dream about lucid dreaming. And that not making you lucid in itself. If I learned one thing here then that dreams are built upon expectations. If you spend some time per day to practice RCs, awareness or just read stuff here on DV, then you can of course implement this into your regular dreams.

It could either be a false lucid, or maybe you had low awareness. Are you doing reality checks with awareness? Asking yourself if you're dreaming; remembering what you were doing five minutes ago; being aware of what you're doing at the current moment. Here are a couple of helpful links:

      Hope this helps a little.
