      My friend is...

      ...most hopefully developing lucid dreaming!
I told him all about it the other day, then the next day, he told me he dreamt it was dark, he did a reality check, and he knew he was dreaming.
Then he woke up after around 3 seconds

Now the funny part is that it's exactly the same first lucid dream i had after reading about it.
Being somewhere, not seeing anything, do reality check, know you are dreaming, wake up.

Now, i have a question, is that very regular?

I've had similar occurences, except I'm in strange places.

But still, whenever I realize/tell my brain that "I'm dreaming", I wake up after trying to do ANYTHING. I remain calm, but maybe the brain hates me, or something.

Based on what I've heard, I'd say that's fairly normal for a first LD.

Well, the darkness part will vary - but the duration of the first few LDs is common, very short. It's the excitement that wakes you up.

Once you get the "feel" of a lucid dream, it will become common and then you'll have to watch out for other exciting occurences within the dream that might wake you up (like flying or sex).

      Keep at it!

My brother seemed to have these same dreams when he began to lucid dream, it was a little diferent because when he found out he was dreaming it all faded out and he was in darkness, seconds later he woke up.

Not to worry or anything, now he has great lucid dreams, very long, vivid and full of control.

My best friend also realized he was dreaming, the dream scape was also black, he began to fly in darkness and he decribed it like the same feeling of flying but he couldn't see a thing, after flying he went swiming in the darkness.

Thanks for the replies and stuff...Kinda.
      Anyway, uh.
It wasn't his first ld by the way, it was his first after knowing more about it, just like me.
I've had lucid dreams as long as i can remember, but the first one after reading about it was like that.

I've also asked 6 of my friends if they've ever had a dream where they knew they were dreaming while they were doing it, and 5 of them had.
