get yourself a cheap digital watch that beeps every hour and do a reality check every time it beeps.....
and seriously think your reality check thru, dont just go thru the motions....put thought into it and emotionally entertain the fact that you could actually be dreaming.
that way when you do it in a dream and realize you're dreaming it wont be such a shock to you that you freak yourself out and wake yourself up.
using a digital watch is good because it can help create a dual mentality; you get used to doing hourly checks and if ever in a dream you see the time you will be prompted to check the reality of what you're seeing....plus always knowing what time it is will be helping to heighten your awareness levels.....
also if you place the watch near where you sleep at a distance where it doesnt wake you up-- but you can still hear it when it beeps.....if it happens to beep in the middle of the night while you are in REM and it beeps and you hear it, you might hear it as part of your dream......happened to me more than once.....got a couple lucids that way....
after awhile of doing the reality checks on the hour because of the beep, you will start remembering to do them on your own without the aid of a watch...then you will start doing them a few minutes before or a few miuntes after the hour all by yourself....your mind will feel as tho it remembers it needs to "do something"......
without the use of a watch, you will randomly want to know "what time is it?"
its an innocent question, and nobody will suspect you're on some "other-shit"...........
write down every dream you can recall......my dream journal is on my phone.......i just use a journal app called "Som note"....theres plenty journal apps to choose from...
write down every dream, because if you ever have a re-occurring dream, thats an automatic LUCID opportunity rite there!
re-occuring dreams is what gave birth to my lucidity......that deja vu feeling is priceless......but if you dont write it down you might forget about it later.....
