      Second time trying wild

I've never lucid dreamed, so apparently there's no easy or hard techniques, it just depends on the person and for me I think wild or fild would be better but I'll still try other techniques just in case.

Today I tried wild as soon as I woke up in the middle of the night
So that I don't start focusing on memories or start talking in my head, I focus on my breath. I try to take deep breaths and I just focus on them, so a few minutes passed and again like my first try I my arms feel very light and comfortable, they feel as if they were in the air, and I just continue, then I get urges to swallow, and I try my hardest not to but I fail. So I try again and the urge to swallow happens again, but this time I ignore it. Then out of no where I start feeling my heart rate raise, and I start breathing really fast, I've heard those are just hallucinations and KNOW they are because I'm still focused on my breathing and know that I'm breathing deeply and not fast, but it feels like I am, and I feel my heart beat very fast.
Then out of no where I imagine this scary ass face. It came out of no where, it went from me focusing on my breathing to seeing a face. At that point I thought I just thought of it because my heart rate raised and my breath was fast so i knew I was in the point of hallucinations and just decided to think of that face.

After I saw the face, I was still trying to stay calm, I didn't feel any fear but my eyes opened. I didn't try to open them, they just felt like they did alone and didn't want to force shut them because I feel like it's a brain trick to know if you're sleeping

That's my experience with trying to wild, for me it was a really cool experience.

      Hey there,

Not only a cool experience, but I believe that scary face you saw was the onset of a dream, like hypnagogic imagery right before you fall sleep, so you were actually very close to a WILD as well.

      Good luck with future attempts!

thank you! I was wondering if WILD worked if you do it the first time you want to sleep, or does it have to be when you wake up from a 4-6 hour dream?

      Hey there,

It *can* work, but generally at the onset of sleep your dreams will be very light, vague, and lacking in stability, which makes it really hard to get good WILDS at this point. So it's not advisable to try it. That said, I have experienced a full blown WILD at the start of my night, so I can confirm that it can be done (though I should mention I was very tired, which had a heavy influence on my normal sleep rhythm. It's not a result I can reproduce).
