Aw wow - I just had what may have been "the dream" - a dream in which I meet all the characters and representations that make up my "self" -- and I never became lucid!! ARGGH!! It had all the classic cliche symbols and such of dreams: Many doors, windows, long hallways, partially hidden rooms, underground chambers.... etc

I was coming off a night of (what ended up being) heavy alchohol consumption. NOTE: I am in no way recommending drinking for it inhibits REM. In fact, none of this dream took place overnight. All this was squeezed into the morning hours of 8:30am and 11:20am - while recovering.

DREAM:
Normally I've bitched in the past about never having many dream characters (if any) to mess around with or talk to when I get lucid. Definitely not the case in this one - I've been recaping the dream for the past 30 minutes. I'm just gonna jot down some pieces and characters:

[color=#333333][list] - very attractive dark hair, blue eyed girl with me. In car, she's driving. Not my girlfriend, however. More like a partner of somekind (detectives?).
- "gas station man". We pull into gas station. Instead of cleaning windows and checking oil, he checks our fingernails! I notice my nails could use some work - no way I was gonna have this dude do it. Complements my partner on her hands, looks at mine and before I can say "no, thanks" he starts working on them. For some reason partner has to move the car - she pulls away while attendant is hanging out the window!! (I'm in back seat - not sure if it's symbolism or what). This is somehow normal, attendant keeps clipping nails as he hangs out window.

-At some point I get really upset with her and "split up". Big argument, I say she's just too much "bitch and whine" and I can't take it. I appologize but tell her we're not a good match or some crap like that.

- "Other self" - another partner? a male, he's like my other half or something (a brother?). The person I confide in with most. I'm thinking of quitting. Apparently he had quit once, but realized it was a mistake and came back. We're at the station or "base". We pass people in the halls. They all hear I'm leaving. I tell this other self that this freedom I'm feeling is incredible.
- Tall uptight executive-type woman walks past us in the hall and I flip her off. She turns and gives me a dirty look when she reaches the doorway. I keep taunting her like "yeah, what are you gonna do?! C'mon, fuck me, bitch!" She turns and walks off.
- "Robert Downey Jr" -- character I come across while back at the "station" or "base". He's in a room, entrance partially hidden. In the back somewhere. He's walking across on his palms while doing the splits! You know, the kind where legs are spread out to the sides - very painful looking!! He's got glasses, wearing a whistle around his neck, like he's a coach or something. I get the feeling he's more of a guru somehow. I make some smart comment about him and he laughs in an over-exaggerated way - like he was not amused.
- "bearded lady" - down in the basement or boiler room is this tough, russian-like woman. Red hair, middle-aged...and has a beard! Nice lady, though.
- "the captain" - a very young, short chick. Short hair, like a girl version of the Karate Kid. We get to her office. She's just getting back herself and has others with her. I figure it will be easy to resign since she's young and just recently became the captain. I tell her, she says "yes, I heard. But you know, I've got too much shit goin on and I don't have time for it. So I'm very happy to accept your request to re-join the force. Great, get back to work." She goes into office and shuts door. "What??!"

I run up to my "room" and start packing what I can. Determined to leave. Yet, I realize I'm screwed. I plan on moving back to where I came from - but there I have no job. I have a great job here - but I hate being here. Do I have the courage to go through with this?

- "garage tendants" - couple people who collect the tickets for the parking garage. I pull car out (big white Cadillac-like car). I have trouble maneuvering it and scrape the right side against the wall. Tendant sees it, comes to offer help. I pull away - but they call me back. Need to see my ticket. I go back and start pulling out money - they say it's ok, that they only needed to see the ticket. Space was paid for already.[list]

---------------

That's about all I recall for now. I just hope I can get another crack at this and go lucid.
