Spongebob gave me my first lucid dream

Hey all, I just wanted to share this and see if anyone can relate.

When I was a wee lad I used to realize I was dreaming and wake myself up whenever I had a nightmare. This was the extent of my lucid dreaming until one day, around the same time, I saw an episode of SpongeBob where the sponge realizes he's dreaming. At some point in the episode he goes into Patrick's dream and explains that in dreams you can do anything.

This idea was fascinating to me and I became obsessed with it. I ended up having multiple lucid dreams around that time. Did anyone else have a similar experience as a child? Does this mean we're more inclined to lucid dream?

      Peace (:

      Hey there,

Like you my very first lucid dream was as a child, waking myself up from a nightmare. I dreamt I was at my home, going up the stairs, and this really scary feeling hit me as I looked up at where I was going. Then I briefly remember an image of an owl, before I told myself this is all a dream and I don't want this, so woke myself up.

Almost ten years later I was surfing the internet, looking for information on astral projection (out of curiosity) when I hit upon some link to the lucidity institute instead. I follow the link and started reading, recognizing what they described from my childhood experience. I started doing the exercises and about a week later had my next lucid dream.

Are you more inclined? It's certainly possible. For me, I've always been fascinated by and interested in dreams. In fact, my earliest memories are all dream memories (for the longest time, far into my teen years, I was convinced they were actual waking events, until I finally realized they couldn't have been). So it's not too surprising lucidity came relatively easy when I learned of it. Though I still have to do the work, like most other people, if I want to have high lucidity with any kind of regularity.

I'm still a kid (15) and had my first lucid at 13 when I heard about it and wanted to do it.
