pain or death in a dream

A few nights ago i dreamnt that i was fighting in a war. The war was like the battles in the Lord of the Rings triology. The war consisted of humans and creatures. I was leading the humans against creatures which were similar to the orchs. At one point of the dream i remember commanding the soldiers to stay at the top of the hill so we can have leverage. The creatures began to charge, so we start to charge too, but instead of us having the position on top of the hill, it was the creatures. So we continue to charge on horseback and I start riding up the hill and im suddenly alone. All of my soldiers dissapeared and i began fighting this creatures. I ended up getting stabbed many times in the ribs and chest but i survived. I could actually feel the creatures stabbing me and it kind of hurt. I wonder what it would feel like to die in a dream. I have never experiences dieing in a dream.

      ....wow.

Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.

      Dream dying

      Yeah wow...

That sounded like a cool dream up until the whole stabbing thing. I am interested to learn if any others have experienced death in thier dreams. I don't think I've ever been injured in a dream. I've been in many dangerous situations but have always managed to escape any real harm.

When I was younger, I died a lot in my dreams. I usually did it with some conscious intention, mostly because I liked the feeling I got when waking up from it. It was like this total feeling of nothingness, and then I woke up feeling all warm and comforatable. It's been ages since I did that, though. I've realized that there are more productive things to do with LD's.

I have felt pain in my dreams, but rarely is it actually something that causes me much discomfort. At one extreme, I've been shot in the leg with an arrow, but it felt like little more than an itch. On the other end, I've been ripped apart by giant bugs (think starship troopers, but spikier), quite savagely, and it was fairly painful.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

I have never actualy died in m dreams, but I do have a problem with trying to kill myself. for some reason in 1 out of 4 LD's I try and take my own life.

I've died in my dreams several times, when I was young(er). It was nothing special in my case. It usually involved falling and just when I was about to hit the ground, I'd wake up.
On second thought, that's not really dying in the dream...
The being cut up is pretty annoying indeed. It doesn't hurt, but it feels like a blunt object is trying to cut me open.

All in all it's nothing to be afraid of. Maybe the (partial) absence of pain could even trigger a LD.
