      The 'Dream World'

I have a question about the dream world. Does it encompass, everyone's dreams? Or is it a personal thing? Like, is there just one big dream world where everything happens, or does each person have their own 'world'?

      Hello,

I believe that all of our dream worlds are connected through layers like an onion. Phenomena like mutual dreaming and dream switching (subjects to be discussed in a different forum than this one) indicate that there is potential overlap in people's dream worlds.

But I suspect it is a hierarchical system that is partly related to Carl Jung's collective unconscious. In other words, each person has a personal dream world (which can likely be permeated or at least influenced by outside factors) but that personal realm is anchored in ever widening realms that eventually encompass geographic dream worlds, national / cultural dream worlds, the human species dream world and likely beyond.

But as I said, this touches on areas that are likely better discussed in the other more appropriate forums provided here in DreamViews land.

Hmm, that's interesting. Thanks for your help Elfis. I may take it to some of the other forums as you suggested and see what people think.

I believe that dreams are just imaginations of one's mind and that all reports of dream sharing are either false, or weren't really dream sharing (for example, one of the supposed "sharers" made the other - intentionally or not - "remember" something that never was, namely, "sharing" a dream".
I know it's boring, but I'm a materialist and don't believe in anything supernatural or paranormal, including, but not limited to, God, telepathy and astral projections. I do believe in lucid dreams, though, as they are a natural, quite common and scientifically proven fact.

Hi Oogi Boogi, glad to be of help. I plan on spending more time in those other forums on this site as THAT is where most of my interest in dreams and consciousness take me.

      Howdy S,

We're all entitled to our beliefs (or in your case, lack their of). As someone who has investigated parapsychology all my life I can point you to many scientific explorations of these phenomena that are far from "paranormal". In fact, evidence supports the contention that they are in fact rather normal for most people.

But I'll save that discussion for the aforementioned other forums on this site. Perhaps you'll join the discussions there to help keep us "believers" in such phenomena honest in our analyses?

      Hope to read you there.
