Some frustration, a little support needed

Please excuse my post which MAY be interpreted as whining, but bare with me...

So, i have been attempting to LD, with varying degrees of effort (ranging from Trying hard every night, to forgetting for a week, but for the most part, I am just doing RC's and a bit of mind preperation before sleeping, and a dream journal). But with no Success.

I have been trying for, almost a year now, ever since I first heard about it. I've only had maybe three real "almost Lucid" dreams. Those include one where I walked around knowing I was dreaming, but not being able to do anyting out of the ordinary, one where I succeeded with a finger through the palm and woke up, and another where Irealized and woke up.

I keep talking to people, and I realize, a LOT more people than I knew, regularly LD naturally. This is quite irksome to me, and I am almost desperate here. The only real change since beginning has been better dream recall, and an annoying habit of sticking my finger into my palm, and holding my nose.

      Any advice?

Well you should certainly try some techniques other than just a dream journal and willing yourself to lucid dream. Dream journals are mostly just for better dream recall and won't induce lucid dreams. Most people I know don't attain lucidity in dreams because of their habits of doing RCs, but because of certain techniques. Stick with a certain technique for a week or so, and if you make no progress than move on to a different one.

A technique I would suggest is Hagart's Induction Technique. (check the attaining lucidity forum) It is one of the easiest techs and seems to work for a lot of people. It will take multiple nights though. You should be trying every night because it takes hardly any effort during the day, and once night comes around you have another chance to try for a lucid dream. You have to sleep anyways, so you may as well expand on your lucid skills while your at it.
      Hope this helps/

That's a real shame! The only real advice that comes to me, is to try out different techniques. I'm trying to do a wild in the weekends and hilds (hargart's) during midweek. I just keep on trying to do the techs a little different and so on.

Believe me I know how you feel. Look at my signature. Hmm, haven’t looked at it myself in a wile. If I remember its 11 LDs and that’s been since March of this year. Its tough sometimes and like you have tried a week or so doing nothing. I was about to post in any forum that relates to WILDs. I read back in march of this year that the reason so many can’t do a WILD is because 90 percent of people can’t be hypnotized. I just stop trying because I figured I was one of them. Well this morning when I was waking up on and off I was thinking about reaching to a near by table for a pair of nail clippers. Don’t know why I even wanted them but then I realized my eyes were really closed. Then I looked at the TV and it was on,only I still realized I was not really looking at it. Then Opening my eyes, it was all over in seconds. I tried going back to see something else with my eyes closed but there were to many distractions around to keep me awake. That is the first time I ever saw something even close to a WILD. I was just thinking yesterday that I probably need a new method but never dreamed (no pun intended) it would be trying to WILD again. So don’t give up. I was about to myself.

Hi, Sorry for the time elapsed between post and reply, but I'm on a boat trip, and connections are rare.

Anyway, I must have forgotten to include it in my post, but occasionally I will try MILD's, and a few times a WBTB. I'll try hagarts, it looks interesting, thanks for the replies.
