      Ever realized your waking up?

Last night (my first Lucid ever! woo!) I had a dream and when I realized I was dreaming the dream ended, everything went black and I instantly knew the dream was ending. It felt like I was floating up through water towards conciousness (excpt in black) Anyone else get this?
I can't say I really know anything about what you're talkinga bout , but I said plausible because of that incredibly cool blind spot trick .

First, congrats on your first LD. It sounds to me like you just simply got to excite to be lucid, and woke yourself up.

First congrats on your first LD, Yeah I can usually tell when I am waking up like last night I relized I was waking up and I asked myself to sleep for two more hours and it worked. Sometimes even when I am having an intense lucid dream my eyes will open and I have to fight to keep them shut.

Making great progress goku! And yes, my first LD (something like a month ago) was very much like yours. Very shortly after I realized I was dreaming I woke up, with a sensation of floating upwards through a spiraling staircase...

I've done that many times, but I was never aware of what it could be until a few days ago when I got on here. It feels like everything is fading away and you're left in black, and to me it feels as if I'm just coming back and I feel like I'm going through a tunnel back to my bed.

in my more recent lucid dreams its felt like i was falling asleep, just at random and very quick, and then id be 'awake' in my bed. But yeah, in ludic dreams, i can always tell/know they are ending and ill be waking up very soon.

Invariably, I know when I'm waking. Scene fades to black and there I am awake.

It makes sense - you're conscious in your dream, so consciously you'd realize you're waking.

As was advised: Excitement plays a big role in losing lucidity...

Again: Grats on your first remembered LD!

I don't want to hear about the brain from someone that doesn't have one.
Nor do I want to hear about evolution from someone that hasn't evolved.

Being such a light sleeper, I am usually pulled out of a dream by sound.
Just this morning, I was pulled out of a lucid dream by a fan that I keep next to my bed. I hear the fan first in my dream and I start to lose my grip. Sometimes I can slow it down by rubbing my left hand with my right thumb, but sometimes it seems that there is just no use even trying.
Well, this morning I turned the fan off when I woke up(earlier in a non-lucid dream I actually had a false awakening about turning the fan off). It was exceptionally quiet at my house and I was able to get right back to sleep and another lucid dream. Just when I decided what I wanted to accomplish, the damn phone started ringing.

I have a few interesting experiences about waking up and a few more questions. For a while I have thought that entering a lucid dream from the waking state would be like a reverse waking up, so I have attempted to make detailed notes on the experience.

Waking up from a highly active lucid dream can be accompanied by a falling sensation. And, very seriously, a perceptible "thump," as if hitting the ground, upon awakening. It doesn't hurt or anything, just very abrupt. Reality hits you.

Another event is very similar, in that it is a feeling of descent, but in a series of steps instead of a continuous drop. Some kind of cycling or rotating phenomena accompanies this. One was particularly amazing from my perspective, all wild and electrical.

I'd like to start a new thread about these feelings of descent, although I'm still thinking of how to phrase my questions...

Kim, I recall you describing something that reminded me of this, where you saw a series of light-emitting diodes circle around a few times as you were becoming awake? I can't seem to find that post.

By far the majority of wakings have been very quick and uneventful. Things go black, just as if I am looking at my eyelids and, wouldn't you know it, they're my eyelids. But not always.

I always see everything fading to black also. That's when I try to dreamspin to keep it going. Actually worked twice this morning for me! Although today I actually got dizzy in my dream and fell down. People all around me were laughing at me. I had an amazing night of three LD's. Only been at it a week too. I've had five total in the past week.
