      Big problem

I have a big problem lucid dreaming. I manage to have semi'lucid dreams, sometimes quite a lot, once a week, but they're rubbish. They're quite blurry, I'm not very lucid, can't do anything. Any ideas?

There a few stabilization techniques you can do. Look at your hands for starters. This has the double effect of being a reality check.

I've found that looking at the horizon is good. This helps center my attention on a "vanishing point" and puts things into perspective, very much like a perspective drawing, which is how we normally see things. It also works double to help me fly. I float up in the air when I change my vanishing point. I don't think of that while it's happening, usually. I'm making it sound more complicated than it is.

Above all, relax. Lucidity can be very exciting, but getting too excited can cut it short. Play it cool.

That is the biggest key! If you can stay relaxed and calm then you are able to stay lucid longer. Now I'm not one to talk since my LD's have seemed to last only a few seconds to a minute or two, but it's invariably me getting excited doing something that i've never done before that wakes me up. I have had luck with rubbing my hands together and/or dream spinning. I find that rubbing my hands together is the best for me. It's made me lucid enough a couple times to actually feel things in my dreams, like textures, etc. Now I just need to learn to relax.

Thanks. I'll give it a try, though I'm not very good yet at flying... I drove a car in my dream last night though... pity it turned into a bicycle...
