I need to gush about dreaming

I need to gush about the miraculousness of a dream state.
I am constantly amazed by how sensitive my ability to - at the very least - recall my dreams is. If I eat the wrong foods or if I eat the right ones, if I am emotionally distraught or not, if I am sleeping in a new place or an old place, if I am sleeping next to someone new or familiar, if I do yoga before bed or drink water or watch television - any of these things can trigger some sort of reaction in my dreamworld. For example, I find that if I eat spicey foods shortly before going to bed, my nightmares will be ghastly. But if I eat too much cheese, I'll be lucky if I remember them at all. And there are tons of examples like this. But then the rules are not so concrete that it will work like that very time.
Dreams really are kind of like miracles. Or rare gifts. Because I know I am dreaming all the time, but I only remember a couple dreams a month - and I know I am one of the lucky ones. And those are such terrible odds.
      A remembered dream - what a gem!

And then I often wonder who I would be without my dreams.
They say that human beings are a combination - a collage - of every expereince we have ever had, every person we have ever met, every book we have ever read. And I think it goes without saying, that if this theory is true, than our dreams have just as much impact on us as our teachers or our vacations. And that's amazing.

I wonder - evolutionarily speaking - what were the non-dreamers like? Were they sadder? Did they die off quicker? Were their logic and reasoning and creative-problem-solving skills as honed as ours? At what point did dreaming become a necessary attribute for survival? And do others species have it, too? What about plants? Does my jade plant ever get nightmares? Is that why he never moves much? He's too busy living out his existence on some other plane?

      I mean dreaming - WOAH!

      I told you - gushing . . .
      "I dwell in Possibility . . . "
