Missed a big chance to become lucid

Well, i'm not really sure where to begin,...
I've been working on my dream recall for a couple of weeks and it's helped me alot with trying to have lucid dreams.

So, the other day I had this seemingly normal dream. It started with me at school during lunch break. I was really doing nothing, just sitting at the table with a few people I knew. I kept staring at a vending machine that we actually have in the school, and while staring at snack inside it, I all of sudden have this wierd thought that I couldn't possibly be at school today because it's winter break. So then my mind had came to this dramatic conclusion that I was actually dreaming (exciting and funny to me now because this was the first time I realized I was dreaming ).
But the next thing I know, I felt like I had just awaken from my bed looking at a cartoon that was actually running in the background (I had left the t.v. on before I went to sleep ). I had this strange filling that it was real, that I really was awake. Suddenly, I heard a small whispering voice that was mumbling something (I'd like to think that it was telling "Go ahead, take the chance to become lucid", but then i'll probably be lying to myself ). So I had this sort of decision making feeling, attempt to become lucid, or just go back to sleep and try to wake up. I chose the latter ( kinda regret doing that now ) and went back to sleep in my dream. The wierd thing is that when I had went back to sleep in my dream, I legs and arms had this sort of heavy feeling to them, and I had couldn't move them at all. And after all that, I finally woke up.

Does anyone think that I missed a chance to become lucid, or was it just a false alarm?
(P.S, Sorry if it was a little too long, but I had to go into detail. )

I think you were in the Pre-Lucid state, the point at which you question whether or not you truly are dreaming and began to come to realization that it COULD be a dream afterall.

If I had to guess though, I would say that you probably did miss a chance at becoming Lucid. But don't feel discouraged, it happens to everyone at some point (with me alot these past months).

Yeah I think you missed it lol.

But don't worry. I've been way stupider than that many times. One time in my dream, I was beginning to become lucid and was excited and the I hear my bro's voice in my head. I "wake up" and yell at him and I notice that I'm in a hotel room and he crawled in through the window like Spiderman. I accepted that, woke up for real, realized that my brother was in another country at the moment, and said, "Shit."

That had to suck, but at least I know I'm not the only one that missed the golden opportunity . I just hope that I get another shot at it, sooner or later.

choose differently next time, and you'll definitely be lucid 8)

and don't feel sheepish, or get frustrated. i've had similar experiences, and found it only hurts your future chances to become lucid if you dwell on past misses.

look at it this way...you couldn't be any closer
