      Would you go insane?

Is it true we'd all go insane if we didn't dream?
We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams.

yes. We would be able to remember anything either. Dreaming is related to memorization , speed, and general access to our intelligence.

I think, I would go insane if I didn't dream anymore.

It kills me when I go a few days without recalling a dream. So to actually not dream would literally drive me crazy. I know it would.

I once saw an episode of Star trek: TNG. where for some reason they were'nt getting any REM sleep. they slowly got more and more stressed. they never went crazy, but they got close.

      dream release

To me dreaming has many factors involved than just the normal skills of the brain. I think it can be an emotional release and even allow the soul or spirit to express itself. I have had nights that I would wake myself from crying so hard and so long I was exahusted when I got up the next morning. I don't remember this dream or what causing me to weep so hard but it was so emotional and sometimes it was a joyful feeling and others it was of great sorrow. So if you could not dream I think that emotions and feelings sometimes would never make their way out of you to be released..

      Just a thought
To journey life without a dream is nothing more than a nightmare....

I belive (like many others) that dreams is meant to be a way to let out all the fellings and activities that can't be let out in the waking life.

Have you ever tried when you were kids to be so mad at your parrents about something, and then decide that you never wants to talk to them again. Then you go to bed, and next morning you can't be mad at them anymore, it just fells so wrong. This happended much to me when i was a younger, and i think that this has something to do with dreaming. It's like you have had a chance to let out all the fellings about them in a dream, and when you wake up theres no hate left.

If we were not dreaming i think that we would carry around big fellings and stuff all the time, and it would make the life much more stressful.

Nope, turns out we've likely all been throwing out information as 'facts' when they were really just educated guesses

      a

      Been there, done that.
i had a few weeks in which- out of medical reasons- i only got less then one hour of sleep per night.
      From wiki:
"Lack of sleep may also result in irritability, blurred vision, slurred speech, memory lapses, overall confusion, hallucinations, nausea, psychosis, and eventually death."
got those- irritability, blurred vision, slurred speech, memory lapses, overall confusion, hallucinations
dont know what this means- nausea
didnt get- psychosis, and eventually death.
(after all, i did get SOME sleep).

Feels like living in a nightmere.

      on that note . . .

I think i would go crazy. I'm addicted to my dream state - for lack of a better way of putting it.
I often wonder if human beings are supposed to be the sum total of their experience - every person we met and every thing we have ever done or ever been told - than don't our dreams factor in just as much to who we are as a person as anything else? So without dreams, it would be like staying inside and hermiting. it would be like refsuing to meet people or read books. There would be no evolution. No growth. You would be stimied without dreams.

I think I would go insane from boredom and have emotional outbursts and stuff if I didn't dream, I put up with a lot of pricks at my school and dreaming seems like a good way to relieve stress without hurting anyone. Back when I had no recall at all I had a lot of emotional out bursts.
