judging how long ago a dream accrued

When I remember my dreams, lucid or not, it seems like the dream happened a long time ago. If I had a dream just this morning and it is clear and remembered in detail it still seems like the dream was something that happened many months ago if not years. Does any one have this experience with judging how long ago a dream accrued?

I don't think anything quite like that has happened to me. The closest was that I used to often have dreams that I felt I had before, but I could never find any evidence that I actually had them before, and it often seemed as if I probably didn't. When I recorded my dreams, I had never recorded them before. Often in those dreams, I would remember things from the theoretical previous occurence of the dream. They could have just been false memories, or I could have very well had those dreams before and not remembered them. I don't know of any way to be sure. These kinds of dreams doesn't happen much anymore.

Often, if I wake up remembering multiple dreams, I won't be certain in which order they occurred, even if I remember the dreams themselves. Also, I'll sometimes remember short fragments from dreams, but I won't be certain if they were separate dreams or connected together to one of my other dreams, and I won't know for sure which dream they were part to. This can make it difficult to separate individual dreams when I record them.

Yes it is. Time seems to have another meaning in the dream state.

I can't say I feel quite the same. I guess I do sometimes, but usually when I wake up, I feel more "distant" from the dream that just happened, world wise. After living in a fantastic dream world for a while, it's really easy to get depressed when you wake up. (I wanted my world of chocolate, goddamn!)

Yes, sometimes I do feel like I've had the same dream before, but from months or years ago. Like I will know what's going to happen next. I could never figure out if I actually HAD dreamed the same thing before and I'm recalling it as it happens again, or if my mind only thinks I'm remembering it. Interesting that it's happened to other people, though.
