      Art to inspire dreams

I'm looking for images to help me create a really beautiful, intense environment in my dreams. Photographs, paintings, anything. I've found a few things that I like but I don't know where else to look.

I want something that would be really cool to recreate in a dream and walk around in and explore.

I notice that a lot of members have really cool avators and pics attached to their sigs, so I was wondering if anybody could recommend some websites to check out. I guess kind of keeping in theme with the pics above.

      Thanks everyone.

Not sure if you have seen the movie yet, but there is some pretty wonderful imagery in the What Dreams May Come -- Not only that, but the movie itself is surreal and is about dreams, the afterlife, etc.

I loved What Dreams May Come! Great suggestion, I hadn't thought about it. I'll have to rent it again.

      Thank you

One of my favourite artists, who creates very vivid and dream like images, is Alex Grey. He also designed the cover for "Lateralus" from the band "Tool".

      Visit his page here: http://www.alexgrey.com/

You're welcome. I guess you've drawn your avatar yourself than? I really like it, wish I could create something like that myself. I just took mine from Alex Grey, hopefully he doesn't notice.

I've got a link to paintings from another (rather famous) artist for you. His name is H.R. Giger and he designed the monsters as well as most of the decoration for the film "Alien". I don't think many people here would like to have dreams inspired by his paintings tho ...

For all those who appreciate the darker side of the dream world, take a look at this gallery: http://www.fred-katrin.de/

Ah yes, I'm familiar with Giger - he's become a bit too commercialized due to the motion picture and video industry. Still, very interesting work.

Yep, that's my work in the avatar. It's a piece of a series that I've been working on for a few years now. A slow process due to having a day job as well.

What attracted me to this thread is that I too have a similar goal as Kichu - I would LOVE to have a lucid dream in which I participate in the world I have created in my paintings. So far no luck, but still workin on it.

I agree - hell, I wouldn't mind being showcased at some point on there. Not quite sure what type of art specifically this person likes. Hard to make out - there's so many different styles.
