      Dying In A Dream

I know we've touched this topic before. But I got a question for the many in this forum who this has happened to. I never myself Died in a Dream, but I got a question for those who says they have.

If you've died in a dream how do you know that you've past away? I mean how can you know if you've have but never experienced Dying before, so how do you know what it feels like to Die?

When I died in dreams it was usually a peaceful death. Carried by warm, soft winds of energy, slowly drifting away in an energy of abstract energy..that was how my deaths went..but of course its more symbolic as you dont truely die, as the astral body cannot truely die. Possibility death in the astral temporarily takes you to a place even beyond that.

Oh and how do I know I died..well, I saw my own body I think..

But for me it was always nice to die lol, then Im not afraid of death at all myself and I know death is somethign natural, and it will only be the beginning of something new, and, the continueing, of some old. Unless one escapes samsara of course.

I guess its just like everything else, your brain just makes it up. For example, I can't fly (obviously) but when I fly in my dreams it feels real, and most likely if I could fly it would feel somthing like that.

It's probably a bit different with death, cause you can't actually know what happens after you die, but you can experience everything before the moment you do. That is why most people wake up just before they die, or in the precise moment they do, unless they have a dream with their mind's conception of what the afterlife is.

I have died in dream before, and the last one I remember I was on a bus, that was being driven by the bus driver back in high school, and we fell off this cliff. I fell out the window and was really close to grabbing to this branch, but missed. Then I fell until I hit the ground and woke up.

Pretty decent way to die, if you ask me. Although the rest of the day I was really disapointed in myself for not being able to grab on to that branch, I mean, what an ass.....

Whenever I die it's really sudden... I get jerked out of the dream with a loud ringing in my ears. Good thing I don't die too often, cause it's quite unpleasant for me.

Whenever I die in a dream everything blanks out...just fades away, and then I see a tunnel with a light at the end. Probably my mind attempting to recreate the experience of dying from what I've heard about people's near death experiences (Go to the light! + all that other crap.) I've never minded dying in my dreams, though, it's always really entertaining how it happens. Like once I was a polar bear in my dream, and some kid was hunting me. In the end he threw a pillow at me, and when it hit me I kind of just keeled over...Woke up laughing.

I'm not afraid of death, so when I faced inevitable death, I only felt very slight anxiety ("what? It's all gonna end in a second? " ).

I died in a grotesque way - in a cold war between USSR and USA.
Both launched everything they got, and nuke landed right next to me.
I wasnt lucid then, so I assumed I will die. And I did.
I saw my body blown to pieces from above...

Well, I didnt feel pain, or anything - I just jumped into this point, above myself and watched...

I usually have 3rd person dreams, that randomly change into 1st person dreams...when i die, it 'zooms' out to 3rd person and i see myself, i feel alive, but know i am dead...its frikin strange.

See these are all the vairous opinions im searching for. But the only thing, guys is that it just sounds like your relation to dying is the same as waking up. I mean I had a dream where I was driving in this really fast sports car and I literally hit a truck going over 150 miles per hour and the moment it happened I woke up. Doesn't mean I died, my mind just awakened me from the dream because it can play death out because I've never died before. See where Im coming from??

Anyway in reference to Someone seeing themselves die in a dream from a 3rd persons view then I could sum that up as dying in a dream, but Im kinda looking at that from another perspective because if you're looking at yourself from 3rd persons then you're definatley alive to see yourself from a distant location. Its all just mind boggling to me... Nice answers guys.

The only time I can remember myself dying in a dream was when terrorists where blowing my families car up with us in it, while I was haning out a window defending the car with an enormous bazooka...
I can remember how it went, one moment I was in the car, and suddenly everything went white, and then I was in some kind of mall. It was like when you have a digital picture and you turn the brightness and contrast way up, and then down again.

Whenever I think I'm dead, it is something logical that killed me. Got hit by a car, shot, fell off cliff, ect... I guess that kindof makes sense.

I've been killed by a nuclear bomb before.... Everything flashed intense white, and all sound and time stopped. Then I felt a gigantic pressure all over my body and I disintegrated.

in my dreams, that is one of my biggest fears, something like that. You can't escape it, there is nothing you can do. It is done.

I don't fear that much in real life, for it is highly improbable for that to happen where I live. Although you never know.....

I've never been killed by a nuke before, but I have had reccurring experiences with them in my dreams. Once I dreamt that some psycho was going to drop a fat boy replica out of an old biplane on my house...of course, the image of a biplane flying with a bomb bigger than the plane hanging off of the bottom helped me go lucid and I wound up crushing it Vader-style. Looked really cool, too...it just crumpled up like a tinfoil ball.

ive been stabbed before in a dream which wasnt very pleasant but then i seem to feel more pain than most ppl in my dreams. Aside from the pain it felt like i was suffocating and had no energy, i gradually fell to the floor and died after which i woke up
Im a bit like WindowsXP, I can sort of multi-task but every now and then I crash.

The last dream I can remember of dying was on a road covered with snow. I was driving a BMW of some sort and I saw an ice cave but I didn't relize the door was sealed by a huge sheet of ice. So I tryed drving into the cave and I smashed into the ice and it turned my car in to a chunck of metal with me inside it and I got crushed and died. All I saw after that was a Tunnel of light then I woke up still hurting.

The 1st and last dream I ever died in was when I was being chased and suddenly fell off a cliff, from the time I fell off till the time I hit I went into 3rd person mode and saw me fall and heard me scream. When my body hit I woke up, but I distictly remember how the falling felt, and when I woke up my heart was beating extremely fast and I was slightly freaked out.

I've died 4 times in the dream world that I can recall...

I was run-through with a sword. (If you are familiar with Highlander: The Raven, Amanda is who was weilding the sword.) I don't remember much about it but I'm pretty sure I was in my body.

I have been tied to a stake and tortured to death. This was viewed from outside my body. This was one of the most interesting dreams I've had as after I died I jumped into a complete strangers body and continued the same dream.

I was electrocuted. I was running from someone and touched some live wires as a last act of desparation. Outside my body also.

I was shot. This is probably my most interesting dream death. I was in my body, lying prone in some bushes. I heard someone yell "COP!" And I looked and there was a police officer right in front of me. Before I could do anything he fired. I distinctly remember everything going black and I could actually feel a hole in the top of my head for a few moments before the dream ended.
Tonight's the night. And it's going to happen again, and again. It has to happen.

Death is usually a good thing for me in dreams..as it is peaceful(like I said) and actually feels good..its a feeling of leaving my body(the astral body?) and temporarily passing on to another plane..even beyond, mostly these are highly abstract and I cant explain in words what I usually see there, a combination of colorful explosions..rivers of streaming energy..stars and planets..wormholes..and ..I dont know..its a mighty feeling. ^_^

Are you referring to a Toture Stake? Like what they used to Crucify Jesus Christ?

Imagine an 8-foot telephone pole, with of course no telephone wires. It didn't have any arms like a cross. It was like what they tied people to when they burned them at the stake.

Like RedStarSoldier, I hear a loud ringing in my ears when I die in a dream. In lucid dreams, with the knowledge that everything I do has absolutely ZERO real-life consequences, I have killed myself many times. No, no, I'm NOT suicidal in real life, it's just a way to blow off some steam....and my head.
