      What Reality-Checks do you do?

Had a dream today, was very self-aware, but didn't know if it was a dream or not, so did a reality-check, the one where you look at a text on a piece of paper, and when I looked at the text and looked away and looked at the text again, it was still the same, instead of getting blurry, so ... thought it was waking-life...ugh!

What other kinds of reality-checks do we do?

You can hole your nose and try breathing through your nose, if you can do that, then your in a dream.

Look at your hands- it's almost certain you will have more or less than 10 digits.

Look at clocks to see if they change dramatically as well.

These are all quite simple ones to do, and you can easily do them at all times during the day.

Oh, also you can try to put your finger through the palm of your hand.

There are tons more on this site.....

The really important thing is that you managed to do an RC in the first place 8)

Most important thing - always do more than one and always combine it with checking your situation, environment and location for oddities. My complete run of reality check lasts 30-60 seconds. You really have to do it with 100% intensity and disbelief in reality.

this reminds me of something very weird. some times in a realistic dream everytime I look at a sign or at writing its as if its reflecting from a mirror. ubside down and inverted.. why??

i usually do a progression in the following order.

      1. re-read text or double check digital clock.
      2. survey the environment for anything out of context
      3.examine my hands closely
      4. hop in the air

remember, if there is any doubt at all in your mind whether you are dreamimg or not, keep on with the reality checks, 90% of the time you are dreaming (90% of the time because I woke up this morning and thought I was dreaming XD, I remember doing reality checks and everything and then realizing I was awake)

An approach I take is "you are always dreaming, unless proven otherwise" when I used this that same night I went lucid 3 times
I can't say I really know anything about what you're talkinga bout , but I said plausible because of that incredibly cool blind spot trick .

well, the ones i do are as follows:

      1. look at my hands, feel my hands.

      2. try to breath with my hand over my mouth and pinching my nose.

      3. reading something, looking away, then looking again.

      4. looking at a digital display. (one time, I realized I was dreaming, so i decided to go and kick my friends door down, i walked to his house, and decided to do a reality check, just to be safe, I took out my cell phone, and looked at my backround, my real back round is a mountain with blueish looking trees around it, my dream back round had the right colors; white and blue and black, but it was jumbled up and poped out in a 3-d efect, I then proceed to kick my freinds door down, and hoped to god i really was dreaming.)

      5. looking at clocks, then looking back. any sort will do.

      6. move an object in a room, leave that room, come back and see if it's in the same spot.
Now we know what happens to today when it becomes yesterday... It waits for them... the timekeepers of eternity!

I practice trying to breathe through a plugged nose, reading and re-reading text, and looking at my hands during the day. I still can't figure out how to make myself do a RC during a dream though I just don't have that level of control yet.
