      ClothingQuantity = k / DreamQuality

      For those who aren't familiar with the type of equation I've woven into the title of this thread, I'm referring to inverse proportion.

      During the past few nights the weather has afforded me the luxury of wearing less clothing to bed. I've never been a fan of sleeping in anything accept a pair of underwear--or nothing. As my experiments with lucid dreaming commenced during late Fall 2005, I've been forced to wear a shirt and pajama bottoms most every night. Now, during this dream, I wasn't wearing a shirt in the waking world. I became lucid. I felt more freedom. During this dream, I wasn't wearing anything in the waking world. While the more recent dream seems less complex than the one before, I assure you that this is not the case. Although I did not become lucid, the imagery I experienced was beyond my ability to accurately record in words--hence the shorter entry.

      It is possible that the less clothing one wears to bed the more vivid a dream can become? I'm not sure why this would be, but it seems difficult to dismiss as pure coincidence.

      I wonder if anybody had ever considered doing a project study.

      Two groups for two months -- one month Group A wears pajammas, while Group B goes to bed in the buff, and then the second month the Groups switch off. Then we count up the Lucid and Vivid Dreams.

      I think there may be something to this. I have noticed that when the weather is colder, and therefore I am wearing more and/or have more covers over me, those seem to be the times when I have the type of lucid dreams where I find it difficult to move, or do much of anything that I want to do. When it's warmer, and I'm sleeping naked with perhaps only a light sheet over me, I believe that I have had much more freedom in my dreams.

      Now this isn't something that I've taken notes on, I'm just going by what I have noticed from time to time and what I can remember. But it is something that I've noticed and considered in the past, long before this thread was created. Still, it's not a scientific test at all, so take my observations with a grain of salt, and call me in the morning.

      Oh, and I'd be willing to participate in such a test. Perhaps the Research Team should pick up on this idea?

      I am allso trying around a bit with that. I do think it affects your chance of an LD. I just don;t know how much.. I think that with clothes on you 'feel them in your sleep so it actrvates mental.. stuff

      I think really any change in the way you're sleeping will increase your chances of a LD. Your brain will be more active and aware because it is not used to the conditions. I have noticed that I get much more vivid dreams every time I change something - My first couple nights at home or back at school always have good dreams, or even something as small as changing my sheets usually has some effect.

      On the clothing note, though, I've always slept in just boxers... maybe I'll try sleeping in clothes and see if I notice a difference.

      i almost always sleep naked, and still often have lucids where my movement is restricted. perhaps this has something ot do with the covers though...

      I took a nap today in full clothing and a sweatshirt and I can't remember a single detail. Weird.

      Myself

      Actually, if you wouldn't have mentioned it, I wouldn't have realized it. The dreams I do remember when covered restictively, are generally restictive dreams. It could simply be temperature too. I've never had a lucid dream when cold, barely dream awareness. Almost all of my dreams have been when I was uncomfortably warm. Maybe cause it broke my sleep. Hmmm..... Oh and sleeping with hardly anything and warm gives me dreams more likely of a sexual nature too. Hmmm.....

      Wow. This thread certainly got more response than expected! Actually, I'm receiving nearly identical confirmation of this theory outside the forum. We may be on to something. If someone could issue a formal proposal to the Research Team to conduct an experiment, I would greatly appreciate it.

      I certainly find it far more comfortable to sleep in just my underwear, or underwear and a tshirt. It's easier relax and get to sleep.

      When I wear full pajamas the fabric pulls quite a lot, and I find it disctracting and keep having to rearrange things.

      Haven't noticed an effect on dreaming though
