This is a common experience for me. It started when I was very young and having a recurring nightmare. I would scream out for help and find, frustratingly and terrifyingly, that my voice could barely be heard, and sounded like mumbling. Later on in life I realized that this was actually me using my real mouth and hearing the result in my dream. I'm not sure what causes this...I would be interested to see if it's possible to distinguish between dream and real mouth when in a dream, and perhaps actually communicate with someone near your waking body, and then be able to switch back to your dream voice. Something to experiment with, maybe. |
