      Lucid recall?

So I just had a pretty cool night last night after a while of having pretty bad recall and no lucid dreams, where I had 2 LDs and a few other dreams. The thing with the LDs is, though, that some parts of them I just can't seem to remember. Is this because I lost lucidity for a while, or does it just happen just like it does with normal dreams? Technically if you're really conscious in your dream, wouldn't it be really hard to forget it?

      Lucid forgetting

      Hi Wildman

I've pondered this as well. I think perhaps it is best to deal with recall as a seperate issue from Lucidity. I know that I've had incredible lucid dreams and then forgotten some or all. Afterall, in waking reality I am conscious but I can forget whole swathes of time and no amount of prompting by others will bring it back. I believe that those times I must have been very preoccupied so simply the information didn't go into my head!

Perhaps it is the same with dreams. I tend to feel that during a lucid dream the conscious and subconscious are working in harmony together - one 'sees' the other so to speak. Upon waking the subconscious is put into the background so we can get on with day to day stuff.

I'd be really interested to know what others think about lucidity and forgetting. It's a discussion I haven't had with others before so I'd be fascinated to know what others experience and beliefs are in this area - and also to prompt myself into more thinking about it

Generally, people have less trouble remembering their lucid dreams than they do remembering their normal dreams. Lucid dreams still can be forgotten just like normal dreams though, which is the main reason for training your dream recall. If someone didn't train their recall and had a lucid dream, there's a good chance they wouldn't remember the dream.
