      conquering fears

alright, so for those of you that dont know, supposedly you can conquer fears in dreams or parts of yourself that are... hiding.... in you. so has anyone actually seen a difference in their life from conquering or being nice to a DC or something like that?

      by the way 100TH POST

Yay for your 100th post! :yumdumdoodledum:

I haven't conquered a fear, per se, but I conquered a re-occuring dream character a few weeks ago.

I really fear spiders, but I'm not keen on meeting them in my dreams on purpose, even if I'm lucid. It's kinda irrational, but I'd rather avoid it altogether.

And with Burn's advice, I did the same thing.

      integrating

I resolved a recurring series of dreams involving a frightening dog.

I don't think conquering is the best approach. Its more confronting and understanding.

If we think of dream characters as being created by part of us, then we don't want to destroy part of ourselves. We want to understand and integrate it.

The effect of resolving my DC, was that it changed how I get angry. Its less automatic and reactive.

yeah thats cool, i was lucid sometime ago, actually it was my first lucid, and there was this really freaky dog that was walking around my house, and i decided to treat it like a little cute dog and then it turned into that blues clues dog for some reason. i didnt experience any difference in myself tho.
